Superstar is their all time best, though Ticket To Ride was much better than the Beatles original... for me anyway... it was real dramatic yet finished beautifully. Plus you gotta love Karen's deep rich tone.

I went with (They Long To Be) Close To You, but it's tough choice between that and Yesterday Once More, Top Of The World and For All We Know.
I also like their version of There's A Kind Of Hush.

I chose Yesterday Once More. Back when I was living in Chicago (all of 5 years ago), but especially when I was a kid, there was this AM radio station called WJJD. They would play a lot of songs from the 30s-70s, but mostly the softer stuff, like Anne Murray's "Snowbird" and the Carpenters. They used to play this song a lot, and I really fell in love with it.

I'm trying to decide between:
"We've Only Just Begun"
"(They Long To Be) Close To You"
...and "Yesterday Once More" (although this one might be tops)
Their remake of "Ticket To Ride" is so-so IMO.

I said "We've Only Just Begun" - we sang it at my junior high graduation!
But I didn't notice the "other" category: Rainy Days and Mondays and Superstar. Aw, it's hard to pick a favorite.

Here's a little bit o' Carpenters trivia:
'Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft' was a cover of the song written and originally performed by the Canadian group Klaatu. The original was Klaatu's only chart single in the US Hot 100, peaking at US #62. In Canada, it reached #45. The Carpenters cover was a #32 hit in the US and reached #9 in Canada.
Klaatu took their name from the humanoid alien in the 1951 Sci-Fi classic 'The Day the Earth Stood Still'. In that film, Klaatu adopts the surname Carpenter. In the 2008 remake of that film, Klaatu is portrayed by Canadian actor Keanu Reeves.

Whoa - thanks so much guys! Thought I knew my Carpenters, but this album escaped me. The whole album is bright and breezy - gonna find myself a copy! I'm digging tracks 1, 5, 6 and 8.
