Here's just a few 70's goodies from the memory of a now 40 something growing up in a small village in cumbria, England as a teenager.

CLACKERS, If they were around now they would have to be used behind a perspex guard.

RALEIGH CHOPPER, Wow Wow Wow still a head turner 30 years later, I bought one last year as my parents could not afford one then.

CASSETTE RECORDERS, Plain and basic they were but for the first time I could have free (ish) music wherever and whenever I wanted (until the batteries went)

PLATFORM SHOES, 1" on the soles and 2" on the heels were the very least required.

SCHOOL SATCHEL, everything needed for school in a little leather bag.

OXFORD BAGS, an absolute must for anyone who was anyone, must be worn with platform shoes.

LED WATCHES, again an absolute must for anyone with good taste.

LCD WATCHES, again again an absolute must for anyone fed up of buying batteries for their LED watch.

TANK TOPS, STRIPED SOCKS, BUDGIE JACKETS.

I hope my list has re kindled a few memories

Hmmm, maybe this was the 80s..robot 2xl ?
You would place a cassette into his chest to play along a quiz...

These days it would be a microchip or cd!

Wait, wait, wait!!!!!  So, what are you saying??  That I'm not a hip and "down with the times" kinda chic if just this past weekend I was wearing my toe socks with my white roller skates with pink wheels and big white furry ball with the bell  on the pink laces while skate dancing to disco blaring from my 8-track cassette player in the middle of my driveway?? :-[

Oooooooh, I'm just kidding!!!  Everybody knows it's not very comfortable to wear toe socks with skates!!!!!  Otherwise, sadly, I am not kidding!!!!

There was a toy bear like that in the 80's called Teddy Ruxpin - he either sang or told a story, I'm not sure which.

By today's standards, it would cost between 75 and 100 clams.  That's alot of coin for an 8-track player.  ;)

Mr. Microphone

Radioshack small portable am/fm radios, light-weight portable turntables and play telephones that connected from room to room in the house and felt and sounded like real telephones, except they weren't. One could call from one room to the other. They even rang like real telephones!

All these things were so cool! Radioshack rocked in the mid-late 70's.  8) :)

I was born in 1972, but I have vivid memories from the time I was around 4 onwards. My list goes like this:

Pong (played on an old black and white T because the fear was that the video game would destroy the colour in a colour TV...a complete myth, but is the reason why, when I think of Pong, its in black and white).

Smurfs (despite someone saying that they were 80's, I have a number from 1978 and 1979).

Play telephones. I had 2 sets of these...

Robbie The Robot. He was battery operated and would walk along. When he stopped he would make the sound of a laser shooting and the red lights on his pincor hands would flash. On his chest a moonscape would be lit up (from behind) on a rear projection screen and it would move across his chest.

Tonka sandpit trucks and machinery which was actually made from steel.

Star Wars Action figures.

and there are many more.
