Subject: 70's mechanical arcade game
Written By: AL-B on 01/06/05 at 8:07 pm
There was an arcade in our mall in the mid-to-late 70's, and there was this one game I thought was cool, even though I was too little to figure out how to play it. It was a sit-down drag-racing game with a steering wheel, pedals, and a 4-speed shifter, and there was a little plastic Corvette inside with wheels that would roll on the "pavement" below it (actually a conveyor belt). There was also a "Christmas tree" from a drag strip, and the object of the game was to get the lowest ET in the quarter-mile. Anyone remember this, and possibly know what the game was called?

Actually, I think I just found it. It was called "Super Shifter," and it came out in 1974.
