Subject: Journey - 1970's

Written By: eightiesfan on 12/09/04 at 9:14 am

I know most of Journey's big hits came in the 80's, but they had some memorable early hits in the late 70's as well.

My favorite is the two-song medley of Feeling That Way/Anytime That You Want Me - I also like "That's the Same Way You Love Me"
although I'm not sure if that one is late 70's or early 80's.

FYI: I just changed my username to classof1989 - you used to know me as eightiesfan.

Those are my favorite 70's Journey songs as well.

Class of 1989? Sweet! That's the year I graduated too!

Lights gets my vote - "When the lights go down in the ci-tay".  It was always a pre-party or pre-bar sing along when I was in college (late 80s, early 90s)

I picked "wheel in the sky" I was never a big Journey fan, but everyone always had a Journey cassette rattling around in their car back in the day. :)

Wheel in the Sky

Ditto.  I enjoy Journey's music from both the 70's and 80's.  And let's not forget that they are the only rock band to have their own arcade game!  ;)

Out of that list, I went with "Wheel in the Sky" - great pop/rock.

I got their Greatest Hits back in 1994, and while I thought "Lights" was a good song, of the three 70's songs on there, this was definitely the one I came back to the most.

I started hearing "Feelin' that Way/Anytime" on classic rock radio a couple years later and love that too. Weirdly, I kept getting confused as to whether or not it was Journey. You see, Steve Perry and Gregg Rolie trade lead vocals, but at the time I didn't know that, LOL!

"Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin"...even though I've only heard it once. I know "Lights" fairly well, but I thought maybe it was from the 80s...I may be wrong. :-\\
