This one was tough for me, but I think I prefer the SECOND half of the 70's as far as music goes.  It was much more diverse in style and some of my favorite artists had hits in 1977 and 1978.  8) :)

easy choice for me..first half..when Rock was great..and before disco came and set the stage for the 80's which did have some good music, but nothing as good as the first part of the 70's.:)

I liked the second part better.  I liked the disco movement, and there were several good 80s bands that started in the late 70s.  I liked a lot of the mellow music from the late 70s too.

Actually, Disco had much sticking power. You can see in her children: techno, rave, house, club, and freestyle genres.

Tough choice, but I went with the latter half. Being a teenager in the late 70's, I have a lot of memories attached to the songs from that time. :)

Objectively it is very hard to say which one is better as both halves gave us some of the finest '70s music ever. First half gave us classic rock, glam, soul, r&b, while the second one meant punk, new wave, disco, early rap and hip-hop attempts...etc. But as a late 70s/80s/early 90s lover I'm going for the second as it still means a lot to me after all those years.

I'll take 70's disco over some of the garbage I hear coming out today in a heartbeat!

BTW ElDuderino you're not alone in your opinion.  40,000 Chicagoans felt so strongly about it in 1979 that they totally trashed Comiskey park between Chicago White Sox baseball games during "Disco Demolition".

many onehitwonders that were great...and music started sounding more ummmmmm,synth and not a spoon and a pot from the kitchen banging beat like sound  :-\\ ...but then that was a sort of a carry on from the early 60's.
quite frankly i dont mind the old early 70's though..i must admit that,but its definately later 70's for me here.

Ya forgot to mention that it was the first form of music to introduce the "police whistle" as a musical instrument.......that said, I'm no fan of disco, but it had it's moments and it didn't ruin music for me, it just changed our times the way rock-n-roll changed my parents times.......thats why I have a hard time making my peace with it.......lol.... :D
