I was tossed between Takin' it to the Streets or What a Fool Believes. I finally went with What a Fool Believes.

For the Michael McDonald type of Doobies, I'll go with...
1. "Dependin' on You" (1979)
2. "Real Love" (1980)
3. "What a Fool Believes" (1979)
:D

Howard,
Good pick, but isn't that Michael McDonald by himself without the Doobies?
And didn't somebody sample a good part of that song recently? ???
:D

It Keeps You Runnin" (great minds...eh, R&RF and CF? ;) )
Also "Dependin' On You", "Taking It To The Streets", "Little Darling (I Need You)"
And "You Belong To Me", just because it's different from the Carly Simon version I've heard way too much in my lifetime. (guess I need to stay away from those "lite rock" stations)

I am withholding my vote, because I do not consider the Doobies in the "Michael McDonald Era" to be authentic Doobie music. ::)
The Doobies were founded as a collaborative band with lots of guys doing the vocals and they had this unusual, funky sound. When McDonald took over, it became nothing more than the Michael McDonald show. The "McDonald Era" has as much relevance to the Doobies as "Starship" had to The Jefferson Airplane.
Michael eventually did the right thing and went on his own... something he should have done all along. I'm not trashing his music as hejhas done some cool stuff. But it ain't Doobie material.
Early Doobies are like Coke Classic.
McDonald Doobies are like Pepsi Edge.
