Did you know this song was written about a real person? Her name is Sharona Alperin, and last I heard, she was a bigwig at some record company. By the way, I heard Veruca Salt did a remake of this song. What album is it on?

Well, I think I liked this song when it first came out on the radio. Then I would hear it everywhere I went and I soon got very sick of it. (If you're not already aware, "My Sharona" was a #1 hit on the Billboard Charts for 6 weeks!) Even today I have trouble listening it...I think because of the way the singer says "My-ay-ay-ay-ay..." so much in the song.

i see your point. but i was born in the 80s so the first time i heard the song was on Reality Bites which was a movie with Wynona Ryder. i cant seem to hear the song enough, maybe because a lot of the songs that are on now do not even compare

I've got a good one..."Bennie And The Jets", by Elton John! And and another that comes to mind is The Bee Gees "Jive Talkin'".

How 'bout "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" (is that by BTO?) or "Bad to the Bone" by George Thorogood...I think the latter may have been 80's.

Very good all... "Bad To The Bone" wasn't a #1 hit, but "B B B Bennie & The Jets," "You Ain't Seen N N N Nothing Yet," and "Sussudio" by Phil Collins were the ones I heard as the answer once on Casey Kasem or some show like that.

You're forgetting the most recent #1 stuttering hit "Stutter" by Joe (at least it was on Soundscan). Another stuttering hit "K-K-K-Katie" was probably before our time (40's or 50's maybe), but I assume it was #1 on some chart.

No ones mentioned n-n-n-nineteen by Paul Hardcastle. And, of course, it's parody by Rory Bremner (I think). Perhaps these were only hits in the U.K. though?

Lighten Up! If you want to be that controlling of people's messaging - rather than letting it flow - maybe you should find another board.

Well...about the only thing I really know regarding "My Sharona" is that it was a #1 hit by a band (The Knack) that quickly faded into obscurity!

jarret, this has nothing to do with lightening up. i wanted to talk about My Sharona and see what everyone else thought about My Sharona...now whats wrong with expressing my feelings on that subject??
