Subject: Chicago:Behind The Music
ATTENTION Chicago fans: on Oct.15,vh1 will spotlight the Behind The Music profile on one of the most gifted, truly, sucessful groups of the past 33 (34) years: Chicago. this is one of the episodes I've been waiting for nearly 3 years. This group has sold over 120 million records, has had 12 Top Ten albums,(5 of them have gone to #1), 20 top ten singles from 1970-1990(3 of them have gone to #1). We'll know their beginnings (no pun intended), how they surrvived the death of their guitarist Terry Kath, the departure of both former lead singer Peter Cetera & former drummer Danny Seraphine, the change of the musical tastes from punk to disco to alternative to neally selling out in the 80's (PERSONALLY, I loved their stuff from the 80's) and still becoming a fan's favorite in concert and on radio (mostly it's a.c.now). I hope they'll talk about their long-awaited album due out next spring. my only complaint is will their Behind The Music be 60min. or 90? I hope it's 90 because with their longevity in the business, they do have plenty of stories to tell. comments please!

I felt their best stuff was post-Cetera! Though
I loved "Love Me Tomorrow" and many of his songs,
my most favorite Chicago songs would be "Look Away" that Bill Champlin sang and was number one in 1988 or my all time favorite Chicago song
from when I was in high school and sung by Cetera replacement, Jason Scheff,"Will You Still Love Me" from 1986.
I saw them open up for Hall & Oates a few years ago and the show was great though I wish they would sing more material with Champlin/Scheff
since they are still with the band rather than
resting on the laurels of Cetera and Kath's vocals who havent been around in 15 years plus. Shame on their concerts!

Maybe the way you feel about Chicago has a lot to do with the fact that you did not experience the group in the earlier years. It may well be a generation thing. Chicago has always been quite good and smoothly transitioned (musically) through the decades regardless of their changes. That in itself merrits recognition.

Not at all, having being born and raised in the
city where thr group is from and acquired its
name I've been a lifelong fan of the band
from the Kath/Cetera years to presently with
Jason Scheff.
My preference with the group happens to be based on the last two albums Cetera performed on which I feel was their best ever, but my most favorite song was "Will You Still Love" me sung by Jason Scheff was a popular song when I was in high school in 1986 as stated before, ditto with "Look Away" which was number one as well.
My only beef with the group (Lamm is still with them and performs "Beginnings", "Saturday in the Park", songs he sang are great. Even Jason Scheff sounds like Cetera and does a great job of it.
I just would like him to perform songs HE has sung with the group during the past 15 years along with Bill Champlin should do his material as well. They center almost exclusively on Cetera sung songs and I would prefer they mix it up a bit better. That is all.
