Subject: 70s cars versus today's
I am an old-car nut. I hate today's cars, not to mention SUVs and minivans. 70s cars were big, roomy and classy. Things I love about 70s cars and older: High-beam headlight switch is on the floor where it belongs, vent windows, at least up to the early 70s, V-8 engines, bench seats (I hate bucket seats, center consoles, and floor-shift automatics). Today's cars have no class. Some are downright stupid looking. Also, in those days, if you wanted power windows, a fancy stereo, cruise control, air conditioning, etc. you had to buy a Cadillac, Imperial or Lincoln. Or you had to pay a lot extra for a top of the line Buick, Olds, Chrysler, or Mercury. Now every car on the road has power windows, air conditioning, delay wipers, cruise control, etc. No individuality. All of today's cars look almost the same. Another thing, they are made out of plastic, aluminum and fiberglass. Then they are quiet too, except that you here lots of engine noise from inside the car while accelerating. The car in the picture is my collector car, a 1970 Cadillac. It's pretty unique. And it's made of real steel.

oooh.. a 1970 Caddy hearse... my father had a regular customer at his gas station that was a funeral home, and they owned one.. I think it was a 73 or 74 though.. still runs great to this day.. clean as a whistle under the hood.. I'm a big Cadillac fan myself.. if I ever hit the lottery I want the classic '59 convertible Eldorado... or maybe a convertible '63
I have to agree that the cars of the last twenty years for the most part don't hold a candle to the designs of the 70s.. at least the early 70s.. once the gas shortage hit, well... the Pacer and the Gremlin come to mind... and the Pinto with that convient rear gas tank explosion option on the first couple of years...
