Subject: Favorite Irish Bands of the 1970's
There is a thread for Irish bands of 80s and 90s. So I decided to add one for the 70s.
The best Irish band, by far, was Thin Lizzy in the 70's.
I still rock out when I hear Phil Lynott and the band playing on the recording The Boys Are Back in Town 8)

I can't think of any Irish bands other than the one you mentioned, although U2 was just getting started in the late 70's.
There IS one Scottish band from the 70's who is kind of a guilty pleasure for me as I'm sure it it for a lot of other people: The Bay City Rollers :)

Bay City Rollers were cool, no doubt. I remember their tunes.
Speaking of Scottish bands, how about the unlikely R&B group, Average White Band? those guys rocked. Pick Up the Pieces had such a unique sound, and nothing that we Americans would expect from the land of Haggis. :P

There is an radio station in the town where I live that's an adult contemporary format who plays all 70's music on Saturdays so I've heard Average White Band then (they did the song Cut the Cake too, but my favorite is Pick Up the Pieces). I didn't know they were Scottish though, they sounded American to me.
