Subject: Does anyone remember Putt -Putt toy trains?

Does anyone remember the Putt-Putt toys made by Mattel in the early 70's? The wooden Putt-Putt train was really cool! It had no motor but was pushed along the track by hand! Sort of like today's Brio trains. It seems to me that nowadays toys don't encourage kids to use their brains!

I sure do! I even remember the commercial jingle,"Down at the station, early in the morning, wind up the little Putt Putt Train and watch it go!". Wow! I almost forgot about those trains, and the commericial,as well. I never had a Putt Putt Train, but that didn't stop me from thinking they were "neat", as we said back then.  :D Thanks for the memories! Sincerely,Steve.

I'd have to check, but I think my family may still have some of them.  My brother had it, while I had a lego version of trains w/ little plastic rails.  :)

Speaking of trains, when I was five I had an uncle who's whole basement was a huge HO scale model train layout.  It ran thru walls and into other rooms!  Totally exciting to a 5 yr old!  :D  I think I whined enough that my Mom caved in and bought me my first HO scale train set from Tyco.  It's a real toss up between the model trains or the Lego as my most favourite toy I ever had.
