I cannot think of just ten that I like,so here goes:

Led Zeppelin(especially the 4th album and Houses of The Holy)
The Who-still an awesome band in the 70's(my fave Who songs,Behind Blue Eyes,Goin' Mobile, and Won't Get Fooled Again all came out in the early 70's!)
DEEP PURPLE,MARK II LINEUP. Ian Gillan on vocals and RITCHIE BLACKMORE on lead guitar. Nuff said.
Yes-too AWESOME for words in the 70's.
Styx. not too shabby either, although I liked Tommy Shaw on lead vocals better than Dennis DeYoung(nothing against DeYoung he's at his best on "The Grand Illusion"
Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Fun to listen to.
Thin Lizzy
Lynyrd Skynyrd. Blistering Southern-fried rock. "One More From the Road",recorded at Atlanta's Fox Theatre,is,in my opinion,an AWESOME live album.
Aerosmith-Toys In The Attic is my fave Aerosmith CD. I finally got the vinyl in 1977 at a small record shop in Red Bank,New Jersey."Big Ten Inch Record"is tongue in cheek funny!
Kiss."Alive","Destroyer" and "Love Gun" were a blast!
VAN HALEN. Loved 'em at first listen! Their first album still sounds as cool as when it was unleashed in 1978(?)
Edgar Winter Group-"Frankenstein" is one cool  instrumental!

Tough. So many.

1)Lynyrd Skynyrd
2)John Denver
3)KISS
4)The Eagles (tough to place them)
5)Black Sabbath
6))Bad Company
7)Aerosmith
8 )The Who
9)Rush
10)Deep Purple

Except for 1, the other top 5 could be interchanged. 6 could be inched in the top 5 as well. As could any of them really.

Speaking of Led Zeppelin, I recommend everybody give a listen to Tiny Tim & Brave Combo's version of "Stairway to Heaven."  It's a jazzy lounge version that's  waaaay cool.  It's on an album called "Girl" by TT & BC.  The title track is a cover of The Beatles' song, which is a scream.  This album is worth buying for the Led Zep cover alone!
