Subject: Steve Miller Band
Alright, Im 25 and I was raised on the great music of the 70s, compliments to my Mom! There is one song that I am wondering about by The Steve Miller Band. I hope that is right, dont wanna look like a dummy! 'Blinded by the light', please tell me Iam hearing it wrong when I hear him sing,'Blinded by the light, wrapped up like a douch....?(yes, the feminine product!) I know it sounds dumb, but I swear that is what I hear! I have asked many people and they dont know if it is right or not. I wouldnt think it was but maybe it was different back then. Couldnt be that different though! Thank you and sorry if I offend, but I wanna know what Im supposed to be hearing!!! :-X

I think Blinded by the Light is by Manfred Mann, which in the 70s were remnants of an old 60s Brit pop group made famous by their song, Do Wah Diddy. Steve Miller did Rockin me Baby and Fly like an Eagle and a few other hits.

Thank you for letting me know. I wasnt sure.I had heard about Manfred Mann singing it, but thought it couldnt be sense I had never heard anything more of him or his songs. Was it a one hit wonder? There is always more to learn! What about the lyrics? Anyone!

I think he is singing "wrapped up like a douche" like in a runner of the night.

It's actually
"Wrapped up like deuce, another runner in the night."
Like CCR: "There's a bathroom on the right" ("There's a bad moon on the rise") You gotta ask, do people REALLY think they hear "douche" or do they just wanna think they hear "douche." When I used to hear Hall & Oates "Maneater" lyric "She-cat tamed by the purr of a jag-u-ar," as "She can turn by the pub and j*ck you off," I didn't think that's what Daryl Hall was REALLY singing, but it sure sounded like it! :D
See the misheard lyrics page.

I was watching a music station and the song came on. It said that it was by Manfred Manns Earth Band. It also said they broke up in 71' although the song they said came out in 77'. Anyways, thank you for clearing that up for me.I knew I wasnt hearing it right!

Maybe this site will help:
http://www.manfredmann.co.ukI was making a mix CD today, I used The Silicon Teens' version of "Do-Wah Diddy Diddy."
The Silicon Teens was Mute Records founder (and Depeche Mode producer) Daniel Miller. The LP is "Music for Parties." Worth your while if you like super-synthed out versions of oldies hits, a few great originals, "Chip 'n Roll," "State of Shock," and "TV Playtime," which is a good followup to "TVOD." "TVOD" was the b-side to The Normal's "Warm Leatherette." The Normal was also Daniel Miller. "Warm Leatherette" was also a minor hit for Grace Jones.

I saw the lead singer, Mike (somebody) star in a play in London a bunch of years ago. It was a good play and Mike ? was a good actor.

Or try http://www.amiright.com/
Problem w/this site is you need to know the act's name, not the song name, which is kind of a pain. (I knew your song, but not who sang it , so couldn't look it up!)

Since this thread is about The Steve Miller Band, I shall remark that to me Steve Miller is '70s rock personified. I'm not much a Steve Miller fan, but I've always loved "Fly Like An Eagle."

The actual lyrics that you are looking for are "revved up like a deuce", as in the car. The song was written by Bruce Springsteen.
