You've seen all these people in concert?!!! :o
Subject: Re: Favorite 70s Concert
Sure have CF! Have also seen in concert -
Bob Dylan
Joe Cocker
Bette Midler
Beach Boys
Little River Band
Doobie Brothers
Osibisa
David Essex
Suzi Quatro
Roger Whittaker (who was great!)
Willie Nelson (don't know how I got sucked into that one :-[)
I've also been to lots of Aussie concerts - people you most probably have never heard of - Sherbet, Dragon, Hush, Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons, Ted Mulry Gang, The Angels, Sports, Billy Field, John Farnham and Tiddas. We used to go to the "Hoadley's Battle Of The Bands" concerts when we (i.e. me, younger sister and cousin) were young things! Ah those were the days!
I've seen Billy Joel, Rod Stewart, Graham Parker and the Rumour and Joan Armatrading twice :)
I did have a ticket for Boz Scaggs in about 1978 and sold it so that I could spend the weekend up the coast with some bloke I was trying to impress. What a fool I was!

You have seen some good'uns! Wish I had seen the Doobies in 1972 at the Univ. of GA, but I missed it. Also would have liked to see Elvis Costello; you said The Angels, would that be the CS Angels? Where did you see all these shows?

I saw almost all of these artists at Brisbane Festival Hall. David Bowie appeared at Lang Park (Brisbane Football Stadium). Festival Hall was a great venue. Unfortunately Brisbane Entertainment Centre was built and the price of tickets went through the roof and the great atmosphere was lost :( We did go and see bands at Cloudland Ballroom which was another great venue until it was bulldozed >:( I now go to pubs and clubs to see some old Aussie bands and there's an interesting venue called The Zoo down the Valley where I see some good local and interstate artists.
I'm not sure about the Angels. They were only known as The Angels here in Oz. I think perhaps they did go by another name in the US. Their hits included "Take A Long Line" and "Shadow Boxer" amongst others.

Hay Jay, the group I know were the Com Sat Angels or CS Angels, and they did a song called "Independence Day," but that was in the early 80s, but thanks for the info. Where is Oz?
Subject: Re: Favorite 70s Concert
Oz = Australia. :D

Chicago at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena in 1982ish.
As the horn section started their infamous bridge in Beginnings, they slowly opened the arena's retractable roof to the night sky above. Sad to say, the late great Warren Zevon was the opening act, but got jeered.
