Subject: ROMPER ROOM
I used to watch Romper Room all the time. I remember them having these cups that you stand on and you hold the strings then you walk on them. I had a pair myself. That was the thing back then. They were popular. I loved the Magic Mirror. She would say, "I see Kevin, and Mike, etc." I used to watch to see if she would say my name. I loved Romper Room!!! The cups with the strings were called "Romper Stompers."
Subject: Re: ROMPER ROOM
Yes ! I remember ! That magic mirror - I'm sure it was a squash racquet without the strings you know ! And Romper-Stomper ? Now we know where the neo-nazis REALLY came from ! :o
Subject: Re: ROMPER ROOM
I sure do remember Romper Room. She never said my name when she looked in the Magic Mirror, my name is Holly, not an overally popular name.
Subject: Re: ROMPER ROOM
I think Romper Room could survive in today's television world as it did 25 years ago. ;D

I used to hope every day that my name would be said on that show and it never was.
Subject: Re: ROMPER ROOM
Indeed! I had a quite popular name too! Always another kid or two in class with the same name as me! I would have had SELF ESTEEM and a SENSE OF WORTHINESS if only she could have just...*sigh*...said MY name!

LOL Yes I remember the show well; it was an icon! Only problem is, I only have vague memories, except I'd know that lady anywhere, esp her voice. Maybe I didn't watch that much?
Subject: Re: ROMPER ROOM
Yep, I use to watch that show. I don't really remember much about it, but I do vaguely remember how I would hope she would say "Julie" but she never did. :-[

I always thought Miss Betty had a mean streak. Were they all "Miss Betty" ?
Like everyone, I would wait for my name to be called but ALAS it never happened. I suppose Janine is not all that common. :(

She never called my name, either. I guess Dagny isn't that common. ;)

in ozzieland we had miss helena i think it was!
but im quite sure she hated kids, that look she gave when kids played up,oooohhhhhh,if looks could kill!
i think she was sending body language to adult viewers that the kids would'nt understand im sure of it.....maybe a nice
message to the parent of a particular child hinting that their
child is nother but a pain in the arse ! hint hint.
would'nt suprise me when along came the drinking of milk out
of some cheap arse paper thin plastic cup, that the now warm
milk was probably off.
