Subject: I LOVE THE 70s!
Starting TONIGHT VH1 will be premiering ALL this week their new series - I Love the 70's It all begins at 8/9c PM tonight. Every hour will highlight a specific year during this groovy decade.
Subject: Re: I LOVE THE 70s!
You can guarantee I'll be tuned in to watch! 8)
Subject: Re: I LOVE THE 70s!
Rock on!! It's been marked on my calendar all month, and I have sticky notes all over reminding me to watch it tonight! :)
Subject: Re: I LOVE THE 70s!
Thanks for the reminder. I almost forgot about it... I'll be watching.
Subject: Re: I LOVE THE 70s!
I've watched a few, what they've shown about 1970 and 1971. It's pretty cool.
Now those of us born in the 70's like me, (I was born in 1975) can have an understanding of the perspective of what kids born in the 80's must think when they watch "I Love the 80's". Now I can understand what my younger cousin who was born in 1987 must think when he sees 80s stuff.
It's cool having a series like this for the decade I was born in. I know a lot of the 70's stuff and many of it is actually familiar, but since I didn't really live through the decade, I don't know all the specific details about the time.
Subject: Re: I LOVE THE 70s!
I watched up through 1973, and I think it's funny so far. "What could be more fun than a plastic disc?" When they do I Love the 90's i'll be able to do the remembering.
Subject: Re: I LOVE THE 70s!
So far the show is great! I really loved "I love the 80s" cause that's more my decade, since I was born in '78.
I hope they do "I love the 90s", that would be great, but it hasn't been long enough were people will feel nostalgic.
Subject: Re: I LOVE THE 70s!
I've watched the first few they've shown, and for the most part I like them. There is one thing that bothers me, though. Why do they show so little of clips from the 70's and focus instead on the actors/comedians who are making their silly remarks? >:( ::) I mean they are constantly going back and forth and it's hard to even get a good look at the things that happened back then.
Well that's all I wanted to say. I will continue to watch the series because I have a lot of great memories from that decade. 8)

Excellent show. It's funny and depressing at the same time.

I'm excited for what did they call it? I Love the 80's reloaded or something?
Subject: Re: I LOVE THE 70s!
I want to retract my "it's pretty cool" statement. I don't like I Love the 70's. They use the SAME EXACT comedians and actors from I Love the 80's. I'm really sick of these same people remarking and making jokes about pop culture.
This doesn't have the charm of the 80's version, and I think the 70's deserve better. Why not get people who actually lived through the 70's to comment about the decade? Some of the people commenting on the year 1971 were only 2 or 3 years old at the time.
Subject: Re: I LOVE THE 70s!
I agree, I don't like the actors/comedians chosen to talk on the show, especially when they sing along with songs and/or TV show theme songs! Maybe it's just me, but that annoys the heck out of me!
It's a pretty good show. There are some things about it that bug me (like the one mentioned above) but it's okay.
Subject: Re: I LOVE THE 70s!
Yeah they should get real hippies to talk about the 70's!!

Me too! I think it was called "The 80's Strike Back!" -- supposed to air in October. Bring it on!
While I've found most of the commentary by the actors etc to be pretty funny and entertaining, I agree that there's been too much of it. But ya gotta love what the guy from 'Grounded for Life' and Joe Elliot had to say about Dark Side of the Moon -- well, I did anyways! :P
So girls, how many of us had a Baby Alive? I did -- and now it seems umm...GROSS!

I take it back, this is MUCH better than I love The 80's.
Subject: Re: I LOVE THE 70s!
;D
see i was born in 1974 and I remeber ALOTTTTTT that they show on ILOVE THE 70s...
I remember more things of the 80s but the 70s thats my fave!
Im addicted...counting off to when the 70s "strike back"...
any plans for a I L the 90s????
let me know 8)
Subject: Re: I LOVE THE 70s!
I think I Love the 80's was done better. I Love the 80's took its time, it gave a good chunk of time to every segment; it was more in-depth about its subjects than I Love the 70's, which seems to be trying to cram as much as it can into each episode.

If they do "I Love The 90's," it wouldn't be for another 10 years as "I Love The 80's" only started ths year. But I do hope so as far as the success of the ILT80's and ILT70's.

I've tried watching the osbournes, but I can't understand a word Ozzy says, either.
Subject: Re: I LOVE THE 70s!
nahh I don't think it will take them 10yrs!!
I love the 80s came out then I love the 70s....I dont think its as chronologically "correct" as u may think! ;D
Subject: Re: I LOVE THE 70s!
Yeah, but if they do do ILT90's, it'll still be another year or so. I've given my hopes up that it's gonna be this year.
Subject: Re: I LOVE THE 70s!
They should wait longer for I love the 90s, I can remember the 90s too well. They should do I love the 60s.
Subject: Re: I LOVE THE 70s!
Or how about... *I love the thir-ties!*
Nahh...
I Love the 90s would be a good idea right now; we might as well do the show before we forget everything that happened in the 90s.
Subject: Re: I LOVE THE 70s!
Yeah, they should do I love the 30s, nobody would suspect they would skip a few decades like that. It would very unpredictable...
Subject: Re: I LOVE THE 70s!
Yes it would...

You may remember it well, but there are kids born in the 90s that are too young to really know anything about the 90s. Not in good detail anyway.

So did I. There was real novelty and charm to I Love the 80's, because it was the first one. And I really wish they would get different people to do these commentaries. I want to hear from people that really lived in the 70's and have memories of substance from that time. Hal Sparks and Michael Ian Black were born in the 70's, they were there but they're way too young to really give authentic commentary on that decade. VH-1 got most of the people that did the commentaries for the 80s and just made them do the 70s too. They had a lot more enthusiasm when they did the 80s segment, but now they all look bored and tired doing the 70s. That's why I wish they used different people.

I agree! They certainly should have had more people 40 and up talking on the 70's segments. Sure, we had Lynda Carter and Dee Snider on there but I think they focussed way too much on those two guys you mentioned above. And what is with Michael Ian Black not even cracking a smile? I don't know, that guy just seemed to be mocking everything from that time period! ::)

I agree with this too. It didn't seem right to have the younger ones making commentary on a decade which they themselves hadn't fully experienced.
Subject: Re: I LOVE THE 70s!
I have to admit, I watched all 10 hours of this show, and loved it!!!!!
THere were a few mistakes I caught though, which shows they needed to do more research.
THere were several minor ones that I saw, and one major one that I can't understand how they did it.
Ponch in his "1970's babes of 1972" mentioned Nadia Comaneci as one of the babes.
BIG MISTAKE! I think they were more then likely thinking of Olga Korbut. She was the wonder of the 1972 Olympics. Nadia made world headlines with perfect 10 scores in the 1976 Olympics.
There were a few more minor things, but they were only off by 1 year. That was a 4 year difference, a very big one.

I Taped all of it! NOW I can SHOW my boys what they missed ::)
