they were those big balloon punching gloves you slipped your hand into and started boxing with them, they didn't hurt,my younger brother had a pair and me and my older brother were playing with them one day he had one and i had the other,he'd hit me and i'd hit him, well when i wasn't ready he cocked his hand back came full force into my face and the balloon popped and his fist connected with my nose and broke it.we laugh about it now

My dad kept a constant supply of socker boppers in the 70's and he would host boxing matches between my siblings and me while he and my mother sat ringside, puffing on cigarettes and laughing at us. There were seven kids in my family and whenever we would have a disagreement he would make us fight it out in the ring. I also recall another socker bopper type "toy" that was shaped like a fat blow up bat, the size of a human leg. It too was an inexpensive form of entertainment for my parents. My dad was totally against us playing with toy guns because he thought they were too violent but he didn’t have a problem with us clubbing each other senseless with blow up toys. ???
