Subject: Battlestar Galactica
How many of you out there would rather see a continuation of the original helmed either by Richard Hatch or Tom DeSanto & Bryan Singer or the "re-imagined" version currently in production up in Vancover? Personally, I'd rather see Hatch settle his differences with Glen Larson and get the greenlight from Universal. I've read the last two novels and could see them produced as a series of TV movies. Of course, DeSanto & Singer's version would be great to see on the big screen.

On the subject of "Battlestar: Galactica", I loved that show. It's one of my all-time favorites. It's a classic; in the words of Steve Irwin, "Don't muck with it"! Of course, being a classic means nothing to the industry (can you say "Dragnet"?)

Great... some yahoo has decided to rehash another classic show (from the 80's, not the 1970s btw) and portray, or satirize it, in a way that wasn't meant to be. Ie: Scooby Doo, The Brady Bunch... I won't hold my breath for this one. :(

"Battlestar: Galactica" was OK, but not my type of viewing.
I'm not a fan of this show, but I'm tired of seeing a lot of movies based on older movies, tv shows, cartoons, etc.
What ever happened to originality?
Not to mention that some movie remakes tend to be awful!
(Can you say "Wild Wild West",1999)
While some tend to be as good as the original.
(Mission: Impossible, Charlie's Angles)
But it's best, in my opinion, to leave classic tv shows alone.
Best to make a movie out of one's imagination than some idea that's already been taken. :D

Actually, "Battlestar: Galactica" was in the 70s. It briefly left the air and re-emerged in 1980 as a totally different show called "Galactica 1980".

Agreed. And along with "Wild Wild West" , why does Hollywood seem to want to turn white people black (Dr. Doolittle, The Nutty Professor)?

Or in the case of Ronald D. Moore's script for the Galactica "re-imagining", gender changes for Starbuck and Boomer. BTW, the original Battlestar Galactica premiered September 17, 1978 on ABC, so yes it was a 70's show. Lorne Greene, Richard Hatch, and Dirk Benedict graced the cover of TV Guide that week.

I actually read an article about that a little while ago. It seems that the main target audience for movies are non-white people. That's why a criminal like Jennifer Lopez and guys like Vin Diesel (didja know he is half black, half Italian?) are extremely popular and the industry is leaning away from blonde, blue eyed, square jawed, Shwartzennegger types and moving towards the darker skinned/half breed thing. Weird, eh. Marketing is sometimes scary.
