Subject: Funk Me
I need some help. I want to make a Funk/Funkadelic CD for a friend of mine, and I was wondering if any of you could possibly give me some ideas for songs.
Thanks 8)

LOL! ;D I figured you would!
Subject: Re: Funk Me
plenty of good suggestions here...does it have to be strictly 70s? If not Tom Browne-'funkin for Jamaica' might be worth including 8), You could include Positive Force, 'we got the funk', not to mention loads to pick from James Brown stuff or for a different take on things maybe even the commmodores! ;)
Funk you! ;D

Dr. John- Right Place, Wrong Time
Sly and the Family Stone- Thank You(I think this was late 60s, but it's such a great song)
Roy Ayers' Coffy soundtrack is crazy funky.
Some awesome songs were already mentioned. You can never go wrong with George Clinton and The P-Funk or James B.

There's loads of cool stuff mentioned now (especially Curtis Mayfield 8)) and since a few 80s songs have been suggested I thought I'd add Cameo-'word up' to the list...it may not be everyone's cup of tea but I reckon any really good funk compilation would probably include it ;D

Remember the song "Funky Nassau"? It was a big hit in '73 but I can't for the life of me remember (and I'm too lazy to look it up) who did it. ???
