Subject: "Horror Classics" 70's tv programming
Written By: Doktor Zom on 02/24/03 at 08:04 p.m.
I'm looking for some info on a package series that was released to television back in the late 70's...it was a packaging of the old Universal Horror films (usually airing on Friday nights after 10 PM) packaged as "Horror Classics". The package had special intro footage--a man with two assistants who go to a cemetery and open a grave that contains reels of movie film.
It was pretty creepy at the time, I'm sure it's hilarious now, but I would still love to get a copy of this footage somehow--or even a tape of one of the old movies with those inserts, the commercials of the day, etc....I would gladly trade a dub of the Star Wars Holiday Special (yes-THAT one, with the WHOLE ORIGINAL CAST and Carrie Fisher SINGING!!!!) for a dub of any 'Horror Classics' material...
Does anyone happen to have any references to where I might be able to get some more info on this footage? Even a newsgroup reference would help! I've been obsessed with seeing it again ever since I was a kid....It's a pure nostalgia thing.
if anyone can help, please drop me a line: zom@zombieproject.com
Thanks!
