Subject: who was
Nigel Rees?
I've just been looking at The Meaning of Liff and there are several references to Nigel Rees and the colour of his jackets (usually green). But I've no idea who he is.

NIGEL REES
Subject: Re: who was
Thanks for that Feldy. I recognise his face but not the name.
The link reminded me of another question I meant to ask.
Who here has heard of or remembers The Burkiss Way? I friend of mine was raving about it the other day but I can't say I've heard of it myself.

I'll have to check my copy. The Meaning of Life is one of my favorite movies yet I can't recall the references you mention! Sorry I can't be of assistance but I'll pay more attention the next time I watch!

Not The Meaning of Life but The Meaning of Liff
It's a book by Douglas Adams and someone. Basically its a dictionary where place names are given new definitions generally for expressions or feelings that currently don't have a word.
For example
Shoeburyness. The feeling of warmth you get from sitting in a seat that was very recently occupied by someone else.
(Its a place on the South-East coast of Britain)
