Subject: SCTV
Does anyone remember Second City T.V. They had a great cast-John Candy, Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, Dave Thomas, Rick Maranias, and others. I remember one show that was so funny. They did a parady of Fantasy Island. That was by far the best show they ever did.

This show is still in syndication on the Comedy Network here. It's the show that spawned The McKenzie Brothers and The 5 Neat Guys!

There have been SO many great comedians to come out of SCTV that it isn't funny (pardon the pun ;D). I first heard about it when Loren Michaels snatched Belushi, Akroyd, and the next year, Bill Muarry, for that little show that they were doing in New York in 1975. What was the name of that show, anyway ???.........Oh yeah...........LIVE FROM NEW YORK.........IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT!!!!!!!

I loved Saturday Night Live with the orginal Not Ready For Prime Time Players. Both shows were great. I don't think any other comedy show has reach the magnitude that both of them have. In Living Color came close but not quite.

With television the way it is now, I seem to forget sometimes just how hip and edgy SNL and SCTV were at the time. And you're right CWFV, there have been good and bad casts throughout the years on SNL, but none even touched Chevy, Dan, John, Bill (second season), Garrett, Gilda, Lorraine, and last but certainly not least, Gilda.

You got that right. But you forgot Jane ("you ignorant sl*t" ;))They are the orginal Not Ready for Prime Time Players. I really don't know if the present cast of SNL use that term or not.

D@mnit!! >:(I knew when I was posting that, that I was forgetting somebody and couldn't for the life of me figure out who it was! :-[ It's just a combination of olhippieitis and early morning posting I guess. ::)

SCTV was great. Like the former actors from that show said in a recent interview, it was too good to redo, and without John Candy, a reunion would be out of the question. It just wouldn't be the same.
SNL -> I stopped watching in by mid-80's. And today I still think they're just pumping out a product to meet the demand.
I still have video tape of spoofed music videos they used to do on In Living Colour. My favourite is the spoof on Paula Abdul's "Promis of a New Me" except they did it as "Promise of a Thin Me" after it was revealed that they stretched her videos out to make her look thinner. :)
Kids in the Hall still rocks.

Yeah, the mid 80's SNL did pretty much suck. I've gotten in to "Mad TV" here lately (the last couple of years). They're pretty hip!

I was born far too late (1986) to have ever seen the show in its original run. But I did see reruns of the show, in the summer of 2001, on NBC at the same time they show the Carson Daly talk-show thingy now.
I'll never forget Count Floyd. But there's still only one Floyd for me: http://www.iranrock.150m.com/images/pink-floyd.gif ;) The Count did some of the funniest sketches I had ever seen on any show ever.
But one sketch that sticks out above the rest is when Rick Moranis sang a strange version of "Turning Japanese."
