Subject: BELLBOTTOMS
I remember bellbottoms were popular in the 70's. I wear bellbottoms today. Does anyone else here wear bellbottoms? Is there anyone here over 30 who wears bellbottoms?

Some of the jeans I wear are bellbottoms.
Subject: Re: BELLBOTTOMS
I guess you could call the jeans I have on now bellbottoms. :D
Remember the really cool ones that were patterned on the American flag? I had those! 8)
Subject: Re: BELLBOTTOMS
sorry, I had to wear them in the 70's because that is all there was. I bought one pair a year ago and they still hang in my closet. :P Maybe I don't like them so much because I look like a dork in them. ;D
Subject: Re: BELLBOTTOMS
8) Yep, I wear bellbottoms and yes I'm over thirty ( closer to forty-eek!) I love em!!!
Subject: Re: BELLBOTTOMS
Cool. All I wear are bellbottoms in the winter.
Subject: Re: BELLBOTTOMS
I am sure I had a pair or two-everyone did. I know bellbottoms are making a come-back but I wouldn't wear them now.

I loved the hiphugger bellbottoms way back when but I don't think I could possibly fit into a pair and still keep my dignity today.
Subject: Re: BELLBOTTOMS
I am 37 and remember the wide bottom bellbottoms. They HAD to drag onto the ground,my mom hated that!! I still wear them, but they are all low or super low waisted.I have to say I look better now in them than back in the day,we get better with age!! Right girls!!
Subject: Re: BELLBOTTOMS
I still wear hiphugger bellbottoms, and I still look hot, hey girls use it or lose it.
Subject: Re: BELLBOTTOMS
::) ::) ::)They don't look good on me.I'm 38 and I liked to wear colorful stuff back then, but I don't think i had actual bell bottoms.Actually back then i wish I had those skirts with the crinolines.Cheers!

I have to admit, in the 70's I had a few pair myself. But mine were regular bell bottoms, not the Elephant Bells that gave them all a bad name.
And I think the resurgence of them is not all that bad... as long as you are female! :)
I admit, hip-hugger bells look good on a woman, they are more flattering to her figure then they are to men. Every time I see a guy in them, I think of a lot of the Sailors I served with when I was in the Marines. ;D

Little did I know but my mother kept my 1970's hip hugger bell bottoms to show my kids. (Who now just happen to think their mother is really cool.) And yes the one pair has patches on them. And both pair have the bottoms wore off from dragging the ground. I think of the concerts, the parties, the dates those Bell Bottoms have been on and I can only say I am glad they can't talk. Wish I could fit into them :o

I think I wore them as a toddler in the 70s. Now I'm wearing them again except I think they're considered flared or boot-cut instead of bell-bottom. I'll also be 30 in 27 months so I guess I'm pretty much in the "over 30" crowd.
Subject: Re: BELLBOTTOMS
The pair I have aren't real bellbottoms, but I guess they are by today's standards:)

Oh, my husband and I were just discussing this the other day. I had one pair that I hated. They had a blue background with big white diamonds on them. Inside the diamonds were apples. I think they were made of a indestructible material. I tried and tried to "accidently" tear them. The worst part about bellbottoms was getting them caught in a bicycle chain. Even that didn't destroy the pair mentioned above.

Wow, I wish I had that problem with my clothes instead of having the contrary happen to me!
Subject: Re: BELLBOTTOMS
I wore em all the time.I have a couple pair Levi's superlow bells.
Problem is I feel 12 again ::)
I know I still have the same figure 28 yrs later :-[
Subject: Re: BELLBOTTOMS
Yes, I got my bell bottoms stuck in my bike chain once to, that sure did make a mess of my pants.

Excuse the negativity :-X but....no freakin' way! >:(
I despise bellbottoms. I don't understand it. I also don't remember the '70s BBs being particularly "hip-hugger" (ie plumber-wear), which is even worse (girls are supposed to have long legs, short torsos - hanging down there makes it more man proportions!). Anyway I wish this pseudo-retro-fad would die; I'm sick of seeing these things for 10 years! ::)

I'm sorry, but I love them and really hope that those uncomfortable, high-waisted, tapered leg jeans never comes back! :P

I hate jeans and I look like shit in jeans...but alas, you have to wear them sometime! I have bells and regular and switch 'em off depending on my mood... hip today... or fuddy-duddy?... which one... hmmm...
Anyway, had bells when I was a kid too, but my sister had the bells with a popcorn motif all over 'em. She still wishes she had... THE POPCORN PANTS. 8)

I just can't keep my trap shut, can I? ;D Always getting myself in trouble; oh well. More ranting....I know I probably didn't need to even answer this thread but I just couldn't resist....
Uncomfortable? (I'll never understand how people seem to think so many clothes are "uncomfortable"! Few qualify as such for me.) Actually, I find something hanging just barely on me (per hip-huggers) uncomfortable. Not to mention I like keeping my tummy warm.
Most pants thru the ages have been high-wasted - it's a natural; they stay UP! (esp for girls - we have hips, use 'em!) Not to mention they make girls look shorter wasted and longer-legged - like they're supposed to. The only reason some guys "like" low-riders is just so they can look at bare tushes, hopefully, and get some sicko thrill out of it. (Hey, why not just go all the way?) Not because they think the pants themselves are particularly attractive.
As for tapered - (where did that come from?) - that's fine for people w/good legs and ankles. But the all-purpose more-or-less straight-leg is the best overall, for every1 - including this spectator! ;)
Pants I quickly found I didn't like - stirrup pants. At least on me they accentuated how skinny I was - talk about straight leg! No knees even! It was weird. I liked the arch support of the stirrup but that was about it.
And that's JMO. ;) And I still say the hip-hugger/low-rider/plumber-cut is a '90s invention, not '70s.
