The other day I heard Joni's version on the radio and couldn't get it out of my head (I was reminded of the other thread somewhere else on the forums).

Then tonight I watched the music videos I'd recorded over the weekend and there was some tie-in with a film starring Hugh Grant and Snadra Bullock. It was Big Yellow Taxi done by Counting Crows featuring Michelle Branch (featuring more in a video sense than vocally, but hey). It was slick, smooth, vaguely happy and a complete travesty of everything the original stood for...

Now they are treating Big Yellow Taxi like Madonna did with American Pie.  Whats with all the crappy remakes?  Cant anyone come up with their own original songs anymore?

There is nothing at all wrong with the Counting Crows remake.

By the way, it's with Vanessa Carlton, not Michelle Branch.  I don't know HOW you could get the two confused.

My favorite version is "Got til it's gone" by Janet and Joni mitchel feat. Q-tip. It is the best.  ::)
