Subject: Anyone heard or seen this weekly show?
Back in the 70's there use to be a weekly show that only lasted one season I believe, it was called "High Sierra", it was about a group of mountain climbers that rescued people in the sierra mountains.
I heard it was cancelled because it was too dangerous to continue to make and filming was expensive because of the terrain they filmed in.
If anyone has heard of this short lived show please let me know, it was an excellent show.
Later in the 80's a show simular to it came out with Robert Conrad in it called "High Mountain Rangers" but that was not as good and it didn't last either.
I have researched for this show for years, no luck, I even wrote to the 3 main networks, NBC, ABC, CBS, it took forever for them to answer me, none could give me an answer about it, and it was on a major network at the time.

The Internet Movie Database mentions a 1974 TV series called "Sierra" and all the characters seemed to be rangers. There's not much else it mentions about this show. I wonder if this could be what you're talking about. Here is a link to IMDB's listing for "Sierra".

Thank you SammyReed, you solved my personal mystery for me, I always thought it was named "high sierra", when in fact it was called "Sierra" it was only on for one season in 1974, on NBC Thursday nights at 8:00 p.m.
So I thank you, your post has led me to solve a long overdue mystery for me, I read some reviews on the movie, most are bad:)
In short it was about a group of rangers in the sierras always rescuing campers who got caught on the mountainsides, etc. daring rescues every show, and the comedy in it was a bear that was always tearing up the campsites garbage cans and the rangers trying to design a bear proof garbage can, never succeded before the show ended in 1974.
