Subject: Anybody like Steve Miller Band?
I often forget about them when thinking "fave artists" - except when I hear them on the radio I just about dead-stop there on the dial! I just love the sound of Steve Miller!
Subject: Re: Anybody like Steve Miller Band?
I've always been very fond of Steve Miller's music. :D
Some of my favorites are:
Rock 'N Me
The Joker
Abracadabra
Jet Airliner

Oh YEAH! Steve Miller (& Band) is GREAT!
My fav is "Jungle Love", but I also like "Heart Like A Wheel", "Abracadabra", "Swingtown"...
Great stuff!

Steve was from Tacoma, Wa. Amazing that he ever got out.
Fly Like and Eagle was the big one I remember, about '76? or so.
Subject: Re: Anybody like Steve Miller Band?
Yeah ! Great ! :D
Nice and simple and unpretentious :)

Absolutely!! I got "The Joker" album for Christmas 1973, I think it was, and was hooked. He's one of the first pickers to make me realize that you don't have to play 138 notes in a bar (flaming fingers) to make a great guitar solo. PURE CLASS!

...Im a joker, Im a smoker, Im a Midnight Toker....
Steve Miller is great, man
Subject: Re: Anybody like Steve Miller Band?
I do!
"Abra-abra-cadabra. I wanna reach-out and grab ya'." ;D
I like almost everything they've done.
Subject: Re: Anybody like Steve Miller Band?
I LOVE thier stuff...except the stupid "Greatest Hits" LP where they cut the h*ll out of the songs (45 versions instead of LP cuts)
Subject: Re: Anybody like Steve Miller Band?
;D Steve Miller Band rocks. No doubt about it. AHHH The good old days.

Just yesterday, while on a road trip with my sister, we were listening to Jet Airliner which she'd put on a mix CD and I was remembering how I had "Book of Dreams" on 8-track!
Saw SMB last year here in Vancouver and they still kick live! Loverboy opened...it was a great show!
Subject: Re: Anybody like Steve Miller Band?
You bet especially "The Joker" . I can say for a fact that he sings that song much better than Homer J Simpson.
Subject: Re: Anybody like Steve Miller Band?
:)I agree that SMB STILL rocks live! I work security at a large concert venue in the D.C. area. I have seen a lot of classic rock shows in recent years and most of them really are disappointing. When I heard that Steve Miller was coming I had thought "o.k. another lame attempt at a comeback from the 70's". I was WRONG! That was the best show I've seen in years. I especially loved "Fly like an eagle" where he had this rapper dude singing in the middle of the song! Awesome! DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW IF IT COMES TO YOUR TOWN!

Yeah, But not much better!

This is not a judgment of the band as a whole, but if "Abracadabra" doesn't have the single worst lyrics of any song ever recorded, I'd like to hear what does.

Maybe it does, but I still like it! But that was '80s; I still think mainly of their songs in the '70s when they were hot.

Every song doesn't have to have the meaning of life in the lyrics or the musical genius of Mozart to be a good tune.
Subject: Re: Anybody like Steve Miller Band?
I didn't say it had to have the meaning of life. I didn't even say "Abracadabra" wasn't a good tune.
I'm just saying that good god, those lyrics sucked.
