Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific, Prell and Body on Tap. Oooooh, what I wouldn't give for some of each right now!

Actually, Gee is still manufactured in the Philippines. Body on Tap can also be bought online from a little store in Vermont, providing their not still sold out.

Any other 70's shampoo lovers out there lol?

I loved both Body on Tap and Gee....

Prell can still be had, I bought some (the tube kind) the other day at Walgreen's...I did it as kind of a trip down memory lane...I used it...and it sucks!!!! Not like what I used to use at all...

Hey, remember when they used to put a pearl in the bottle version to show how rich and thick it was?  :D

I remember getting Prell in my eyes when I was a little girl and I was afraid to use it after that.

How about Brecks? My grandmother used to work for that compnay and we always had that stuff !

Am I wrong (if I am someone here will let me know) or didn't Pert come out in the 70s? I remember being astounded that you could get that "wash and condition" deal in one step. I still use it.

Cool Link for the "Gee..." shampoo!  :D

Wasn't there one called "Miss Clairol" that was a peach color (not scent)?

What was the one brand that had a lady of a different hair color on each bottle?

In the 70's, conditioner was called CREAM RINSE generally, right?

I don't remember the word conditioner at all back then. Maybe I'm going senile.  ;)

Remember a product called "Sun In"? It was a conditioner-like product one puts in her hair and it's supposed to shine. On the radio, the Donny and Marie sound-alikes sang "Sun In and sunlight, and you'll be glowing tonight." It was usually advertised with Mudd Cleanser.

Yeah this girl I knew in Jr High didn't apply the Sun-in evenly and she ended up having huge orange blotches on the back of her head. It was pretty funny!

I had this friend who used to go around saying, "Gee, your hair smells.....gee, your hair smells." lol.   Never tried the stuff myself. The one I remember was Twice as Nice. It had two things in it that seperated and you had to shake it up before using. Out of curosity, what is the name of that store in Vermont?

"Gee, I can't belive you hair is not butter terrific" ::)
It was my own product, shampoo or butter spread.
It didn't really sell as well as I thought. ;)

Two hair products I really miss from the 70's- Tame creme rinse and and this other stuff from way back...I think it was called Clean Rinse (maybe by Clairol or Breck?) It was totally clear; looked like baby oil, but it smelled sooo good! I had saved my last empty bottle of Tame at my parents' house just to sniff every so often when I visit but I think they threw it away. Anybody remember these? What companies made them?

Green Apple shampoo was the only one that did it for me.
That smell!  Unreal.  I could never understand why they scrapped it.  ???

The one I remember my Mom using on my hair when I was a kid was Miss Clairol's Herbal Essence. It was a green shampoo & it had a cartoon-like drawing of a blond girl on it.
I know it's still out there because I saw it not so long ago in some store I was @.

carrilynn,
I have been searching for Gee for the longest time too!
I too went on the web and heard that it was still manufactured in the Phillipines.  My mother in law went back to the Phillipines for 3 months and I asked her to look for me.

Guess What?  She came back on 01-08-03 and brought me 5 bottles of shampoo and 5 bottles of conditioner!  I couldn't believe it!  I have been smelling it ever since.  I feel like I am 13 again.  She had a hard time finding it, but it is the exact same stuff.  Same bottles and same SMELL!

It is a treat to last a lifetime for me!

Was it "Gee" that had the commercial that went "and you'll tell a friend, and she'll tell a friend, and so on, and so on, and so on"?  and the pictures multiplied in a grid fashion?  If not, which one was it?

i e-mailed clairol about sunshine harvest shampoo, they said they dont have any plans to bring it back because they dont have enough consumer interest.Maybe if enough people write them they might consider bringing it back.Maybe we should e-mail all the compaines that made our fave shampoos,we need enough people though to do it.Maybe we would get some results.

Perhaps I shouldn't admit this, but I actually did once try Farrah Fawcett shampoo (funny, it didn't make my hair look like hers)  ;)

Body On Tap and Faberge Organics were two of my favorites.

My favorite shampoo that I used in the 70's was Lemon Up, this shampoo smelled so good and made my hair squeaky clean. I can still remember roller skating at the rink and my then boyfriend Lonnie commented on how great my hair smelled. I would give anything to find a bottle of that shampoo.

I was going to mention Lemon Up!  Yellow bottle with a plastic lemon shaped cap!  Loved it!  I think the conditioner was in a green bottle w/ green cap (not called Lime up, tho).

My best friend in 7th grade used "Milk Plus Six".  It smelled awesome!  My folks always had the original "Herbal Essence" in the house.  I also liked Prell, because it was soooooo thick, and made my hair sooooo squeaky clean!  Probably not a good thing!

Yeah I think I do remember there being a green bottle for the conditioner, but I never bought the conditoner because my hair was always on the greasy side and on some days I washed it twice a day. I would love to have a bottle of Lemon Up. I wish they would start selling it again, why not, everything else from the 70's has come back.
