Subject: 1977
Well, since I'm getting this year of songs burned next....I was out of school (Early) and still living at home. What a great year for music...first the release of the Hotel California LP which ruled the radio charts until May when Fleetwood Mac released Rumours....I was just starting to drive...and sneek out of the house after 11pm with the car :o I think I'll stop there for the time being.

Yeah, I agree, although I don't really remember it. I was 8.
AC/DC - Let There Be Rock
Kiss - Love Gun
Kiss - Alive II
Thin Lizzy - Bad Reputation
Blue Oyster Cult - Spectres

I agree, it was a great year for music! It was also the year that the Diana Hyland, the original mother on Eight Is Enough, died. :'(

The Sex pistols and the Clash - the punk years!
I think I would have enjoyed it more except I was only 7 ;)

1977 was my first chance at sitting for an exam to get in the work force. The grade 9 standard surprised me so I flunked.Back to grade 11 in school (not for the first time)(Refer 1978) ;D

It was the year of "Never Mind the Bullocks" (Sex Pistols) & "News Of the World" (Queen). It was the year Elvis Prestley O.D-ed. It was the year Kansas released their biggest hit, and one of the most beautifl acoustics ever - "Dust In The Wind". ;)

I was probably dancing to The Nolans or something :-[ Still I was only 7 or 8 at the time.
I remember hearing about Elvis dying and the Silver Jubilee celebrations here in Britain. I still have my badge for winning the three legged race with my friend Julie

Ahhhh 1977!! I was 16 years old and living in a tiny town in Oklahoma...honestly, it was one of the best years of my life!
Let's see, what I can remember about 1977... the MUSIC! "Rumours" and "Hotel California" are the two biggies...and we can't think about the year without "You Light Up My Life," the song that just wouldn't go away in 1977!
Punk and Disco---in the same year!
Jimmy Carter
CB Radios
Roots
Bjorn Borg and Jimmy Connors
Elvis Presley Died
MOVIES: "Car Wash"-- I still love this movie!

I just watched a Behind The Music on 1977 and it was excellent!! All the things mentioned here...especially Elvis's death...but don't forget the NYC Blackout and the Summer of Sam...not really good memories but still important events from 1977...
It was also the year I saw KISS live in concert ;D

Yes, 1977 - 10 at the time, I was...
Remember mostly the usual things, Pistols and the whole punk thing, Presley dying (tho' at that time I wasn't exactly sure of his importance!) and my most vivid recollection, at a Jubilee street party and the weather wasfreezing!
Oh yes, and Paul McCartney with his "Mull Of Bloody Kintyre"!

I was 14. So excuse me while I indulge myself in some unashamed nostalgia.
Punk exloded in the UK and blasted everything away.
The Sex Pistols and The Clash - ahh yes, happy days.
Plus of course The Buzzcocks, Siouxsie and the Banshees, X-Ray Spex, The Damned, Ian Dury and The Blockheads, and the American bands too - Television, The Ramones, Talking Heads...what a great year it was. Then of course there was tapping off with Sarah Dransfield and the Silver Jubilee street party and getting drunk for the first time in my life by surreptiously stealing beer from the free keg.
I bought a razor blade necklace and put a safety pin in my mouth. Not actually through my cheek, just in my mouth. What a prat.
I wasn't exactly a true punk. We went on a school trip to Holland and the only tape the coach driver had was "Hotel California" and I enjoyed that. Plus Thin Lizzy, AC/DC and the literally heart stopping experience of seeing The Runaways on "The Old Grey Whistle Test". Lita Ford in a black leather jump suit - wow.
