I thought 1978 was a good year, especially for music.  Let's see, we had...

-the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack
-"Grease" by Frankie Valli
-"Love Will Find A Way" by Pablo Cruise
-"Time Passages" by Al Stewart
-"Right Down The Line" and "Baker Street" by Gerry Rafferty

...and the list goes on and on!  ;D

For Christmas that year, I got a Porta-Flix. This was a ripoff of that handheld Fisher-Price toy film player with the big advantage that, unlike its predecessor, it was battery-operated and ran by itself instead of having to crank it. (I wonder why this didn't last long?) The "movie" I got with it was clips from a "Star Trek" episode.

hmm,1978...let's see....I was 18 and had my own apartment, job and car, I was listening to AM89 WLS from Chicago and X-Rock80 from Mexico, and played a ton of basketball at a local church.....Now I listen to my old records....and still play basketball...what an interesting life :-/

1978 - Desperate times for myself. I repeated Grade 11 at school so when Exam times came I would have been in the same classroom as the love of my life.(Grade 11s shared classrooms with grade 9s at exam time.)

Heaven knows where she is now.

Come to think of it, being able to play something backwards and in slow motion was pretty neat. You couldn't do that with the Porta-Flix like you could with the Fisher-Price. (such as seeing the "7 chocolate cakes" guy from Sesame Street "fall up" with the cakes stacking up on the plate)
