Subject: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
Which family show did you prefer! Now I did enjoy both, and still do through syndication, but I guess I pulled slightly more to LITTLE HOUSE! I guess I just found those fights between LAURA INGALLS and NELLIE OLSON more exciting than JOHN BOY saying good night to his family week after week!
Peace,Cat Lover

Make that 2 for Little House! I always enjoyed watching mean old "Nellie" get hers...I felt bad for poor old Mr. Olsen though! I always enjoyed Michael Landon from back in his "Bonanza" days...he was a joy to watch and is sorely missed :'(
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
GOOD OLE LITTLE JOE! I miss Michael Landon as well!

Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
Well, I used to watch both shows religiously but I better say that I preferred LHOTP or I'll be in big trouble ;)
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
As a teenager I had to watch both shows. I loved that kind of stuff...still do. Now when I am not busy I watch "Little House" on TBS each day. I love it when Nellie and Mrs Olsen get theirs. And if I were Nels Olsen I would have fled years ago...LOL Now TNN runs 'The Waltons' but as I grow older I am not as interested in it. I guess reality makes me realize that the Walton family had it good for someone who lived through the Great Depression. They had that big house and plenty of food, a business..yada, yada, yada. But my Momma lived through the Depression and talked about picking cotton, going hungry and living in a shanty with a holey tin roof.
Now I love "Little House", but find it to be in such error from the Laura Ingalls books. The place called "Walnut Grove" was actually Plum Creek...and when they lived in Walnut Grove they weren't on the prairie anymore.
Oh yes, I notice every discreprancy in television programs...LOL It drives my family nuts.
Love,
A

I would have to say "Little House". I never really liked "The Waltons" and didn't watch it very much. I still watch "Little House" sometimes on TBS. Nellie was such a trouble-maker. She was a need of a good old spanking! ;D
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
Little House, Definately. John Boy drove me nuts. I couldn't stand the Waltons.
A little OT....I was watching one of those True Hollywood stories on Little House. The actress who played Nellie said that whenever she went out in public she got lots of negative attention. Booed in a parade, etc.
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
I liked both of them and used to watch them a lot when they were still popular. I would probably say that I preferred Little House On The Prairie. :D ;)
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
LHOTP is ok, and I hate the Waltons. I never really watch either.
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
Wow folks! This is somewhat surprising to me. I liked Little House okay, but I was definitely a bigger Walton's fan. I guess I should probably duck now so as to avoid all the heavy objects being lobbed at me! And lower those middle fingers!! ;D

Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
I loved Little House on The Prairie...never missed an episode or at least tried not to. :) The Waltons was "okay". What bothered me most about The Waltons was when they would all say "goodnight" to each other in the end.
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
I cant Believe You all Like "Little Yucks on the Prairie". Every episode of Little Yucks has someone who's either gets hurt, has some Illness or Dies. I vote For The Waltons, not because I like The Waltons, because I hate Little Yucks.
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
I vote for NEITHER! I hated both shows. I thought The Waltons was a sure loser because CBS put it up against NBC's The Flip Wilson Show, which ruled the time slot. I wondered why my sister wanted to watch The Dulltons (which is what Mad magazine called it) over Flip Wilson. I never cared for Little Outhouse on the Prairie either…

Yes, it can be totally depressing. I love stuff like that because it makes me forget my problems and makes them seem rather miniscule. LOL...I love my daily dose of death, poverty, and stories of little girls falling down wells. I guess I could watch the news but it is too real for me. :)
What better way to cheer a day than to watch a poor farmer battle hell storms, the death of his first-born son, diseases, tornadoes, and losing his favorite cow/dog/raccoon/kid.

Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
"Little House" was just too darn wholesome.... and so were The Waltons, for that matter. :P I like Yusufscat's response, even though I would never purposely watch either of these shows. :)
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
Didn't care for either one of these shows, mainly because I didn't like anything set in the far past other than "M*A*S*H" and "Happy Days".
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
I liked both.My best friend and I used to watch the Waltons reruns without fail every sunday morning with mamouth hangovers when you need gentle untaxing viewing ;D
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
Okay, in the 70's most of us were teenagers and had sleepovers with our girlfriends/guyfriends. How many of you did the ole Walton goodnight routine at these sleepovers? I think it was the norm for everyone to tell each other goodnight during sleepovers and it was inevitable that one person would yell, 'Goodnight John Boy'.
The most annoying thing about "The Waltons" were the names..
John Boy,
Jim Bob,
Geez, it reminds me of my relatives...I have an Aunt Lily Mae and an Aunt Brenda Sue. :) Yes, I am a country girl from the Deep South y'all.
Love,
A

Yeah, I like Melissa Gilbert then. (I never liked her sister Sara of "Roseanne".) I also like Judy Norton Taylor (Mary Ellen) and Mary McDonough (Erin) of the Waltons.

Brenda Sue? Wasn't she Almanzo Wilder's "Only Love"? Okay, you'd have to have watched Little House almost religiously to know what the heck I'm talking about here...

I was partial to their brother, Jonathan. What can I say? Chicks dig bad boys...
Now if you'll excuse me, I think Little House is coming on soon.
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
I preferred Little House. Never really watched the Waltons. I haven't watched it in ages, and would probably find it really corny now, but I liked it a lot as a kid.

I got the reference...does that make me a LHOTP geek? Not that that is a bad thing. ;)

Brought back for all the newbies ;)
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
I liked both. Evenly. How strange.... :), but Nellie was definitely the most entertaining part of LHOTP. To be called "Nellie" was the biggest insult in my ring of friends in the 70's...lol.
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
Little House On The Prairie was my favorite. The Olsen family alone made that show enjoyable. The earlier shows were the best. The Ingalls lived through so much drama!
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
This is like asking me "Root canal or bikini wax?" Neither, thank you! ;D
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
Little House! They still show it on TBS Superstation and the Waltons on TVLand.
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
:P Well, I've always liked them both. I guess I'm a little more partial to The Waltons, since that's my Mom's maiden name. I like to laugh at how that side of the family always freaked out over that show. Both shows are very good, though, very enjoyable.
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
Although I watched both, I preferred "Little House" and also read most of Laura Ingalls Wilder's books. Yes, I remember laughing at Nellie and Laura. I remember one scene, when the doctor was at Nellie's while Nellie was banging on the piano and singing...the doctor asked her if she would like something for her throat! I remember when Mary went blind, when her husband (Adam?) regained his sight, when Nellie married Percival and had twins, during a family fued over their religion. It resulted in one Jewish twin and one protestant or whatever religion the Olsens were. I could go on for hours about some of those great episodes. Remember when Charles found Albert in the city (Sleepyeye?) and took him back to live in Walnut Grove. I had better stop now, before I type all night...lol. :D

My pick is Little House on the Prairie. The Walton's I could never get into.

Exactly!!! That's why I'm called Jonman...I HATED being called Jon-Boy...growing up in the era of the Waltons had it's drawbacks for sure.... ::)
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
No contest.......Little House!!
Subject: Re: LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRRE or THE WALTONS
:D ??? ??? ??? ???I liked both shows, but i preferred "Waltons" because it was more historically accurate. Are you guys aware that about 3/4 of the characters on "Little House" never existed, either in the books or in real life?????There was ni Nancy Oleson. There was no Albert!mary never married! There was no Jonathan Garvey! :PThere were probably no girls in those parts with names like "Michele" or "Stacey",either! In real life,Nellie wasn't even Swedish!!!Her real name was Nellie Owens, and she was of Welsh descent. She didn't marry a Jewish guy ,either. They got that guy on the show because he was Allison's best friend.Cheers! :-/ ;) :D
