Subject: Needs Help With My Music Collection
I decided to make a catalog of my 45 Collection. I have around 300 or so. I want to list the Artist, Song and Year it was released. Some of the records have dates and some don't. Does anyone know of a website I can go to find this info or a book I could get?

I don't know any myself....but I would be more than willing to try and help you with the stats you need. :)

Post some of the titles here and we will try and date them for you. If they are early to mid 70s, I will probably know them; anything later than that R&RF will have to figure out. :D

Where's TX and 80smusicfreak? Have they retired? These two would definitely know and if they don't then it's a lost cause. DJMidas? They need you here - stat!

Thanks for the nod, TB. :-) I still "lurk" here on ChuckyG's boards fairly regularly, I just don't post very often anymore. It's been a combination of less time, and many of the more obscure music q's already being answered (correctly) by others here by the time I first read them. But no, I haven't actually "retired", lol. And oddly, for reasons I can't explain, unlike most other people here, my "penguin status" and no. of posts didn't change (i.e., go way down) after the break-in here a week ago, despite the loss of some 25,000 messages when the boards were re-instated. Guess I was immune... :-D
Anyway, yes, assuming they're not incredibly obscure or on tiny indie labels, thanks to my large collection and many reference books, I'm sure I could date most (if not all) of dsbabe56's 45s very accurately - probably even down to the nearest season. A fairly decent book on the subject is the current 3rd edition of the Goldmine Price Guide to 45 rpm Records by Tim Neely, but I've noticed quite a few errors/omissions in it. :-( However, if dsbabe56 would rather post a list here, I'll be sure to check all sources I have...

I don't think I've been the only one to think this, but you should open a music store (a la High Fidelity) or a radio station (!!!!). Your vast amount of music trivia and knowledge leaves me awestruck. Glad to know you're still around 8)

You guys are great! Thanks for all the great responses. I had to put the project aside for a bit but when I get back to it I'll definitely post the ones I need help on here!
