We call American Pie the bus trash song...It started out on a bus trip to Mesquite Nevada. They had a sing along of this song, now every time we go to Wendover we have to play this just as we go into the town. It is really a great song. :)

All these songs are great indeed and bring back alot of memories for me. Hard to believe that Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is that old.
My personal favorite of all of these is "American Pie". I crank up the song and sing every word when it comes on the car radio.
What do you guys think of the Madonna version? I don't like it at all.

I've never cared for many covers of classic songs and that one in particular is really bad.

Actually, it was a pretty good song when the Marvellettes did in originally in the 60s and The Beatles covered it.

The original version of this song was an obsession of mine for several weeks when I was maybe 11 or 12 (mid-80's, when it started to get airplay on whatever Boston's main oldies station was at the time). It was the first piece of non-classical sheet music I ever owned. I personally think the Madonna version is kind of lame. I do like the video, though. (If you want *really* lame, the King's Singers--a British male choral group--recorded the short version of this song. Yuck.)
