We still have a Taco Maker in Salt Lake.  I think there may even still be a Texaco here, but since you mentioned it, I am not sure.   ???  I know the king from Burger King isn't around, but I went there with my daughter the other day and she got a crown.  I didn't think they still had those.  She hasn't gotten on either before or since.  It was kinda fun, brought me back to the days when I would beg my parents to take me there just so I could get a crown. :)

I'm pretty sure I've seen Esso and Texaco gas pumps nearby.

Texaco stations are still around.  The nearest Texaco station that I know of to me is in Beckley, WV.  There are no longer any Esso (my little sister called it three-sso because the "E" in Esso was a backwards three) stations in the States.  The nearest ones I know are in Canada.  The name "Esso" is still used around the world, but not in the States.  Gulf was taken over by Chevron, which took over Texaco.  I think there may be Gulf stations in Pittsburgh, which was its home, and in other places because every time I turn on a hockey game there may be Gulf logos on the backboard.

Zayres was taken over by Ames, which is why it went under the first time around.  It came out of bankruptcy only to go under again, and the remaining Ames stores near me are closing down.

I don't know the deal with Esso and Texaco in America or Canada. Esso have been discontinued, but Texaco still remain, right?

OMG!  Someone else remembers Heck's!  The only discount department store chain based in West Virginia!  They went out of business due to mismanagement and sold out to Jordache (the jeans company) which renamed them L. A. Joe but they too went out of business.  I had a Burger Chef in my neighborhood.  It's still a hamburger restaurant these days, but it closes at 2 pm!

Gulf Oil Co. was purchased by Chevron in 1984-5.
Texaco was purchased by Chevron in 2001.  Chevron is now called ChevronTexaco.
Although the public doesn't see any difference when buying products (petroleum/lubricants) from these companies.  Why, you ask? Names and products were retained for brand awareness reasons.
I know too much about this don't I?

Woolworth's and Zayre's both went out of business spectacularly in the mid- to late- 90's.

Most of the petrol stations have been swallowed up and there are only a few major companies now.  Gone are Total, Golden Fleece, Amoco, Esso.

Mind you, also gone are the days when you could only buy petrol between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.  After hours you COULD go to selected petrol stations and feed in ten 20 cent pieces and get $ 2.00 worth of petrol.

Gee, you'd get a long way on that these days (maybe to the next petrol station).

What I can't find is a grocery store that gives me a decent number of choices...

In the 70s there were at most five chips to chose from: regular, ripple, sour cream and chives, garlic and onion, and the other one.  Now, you have a freakin' aisle of not only potato chips, but tortilla chips, veggie chips, corn chips... and what's happened in the chip aisle has happened in every aisle.
You used to chose between regular vinegar and apple cider vinegar.  Now?  The list is too long.  In the 70s you had ketchup and mustard... the stuff in the yellow squeeze jar, not stone ground.  In the 70s it was either grape jelly or orange marmelade.  We bought our coffee in good American tin cans, and had damn few choices there, too.

Grocery shopping was a lot easier in the 70s.

Does anyone remember Playworld toy stores?  (I think that's the name.)  If you're from NY, you might.  Every year between Thanksgiving & Christmas, they would run TV ads that had a song which ended with a deep voice singing... "low... low... low... low... low... PLAYWORLD!!"

What about the old Lipton iced tea cans?  There was a blue for sweetened, and a pink for unsweetened (or diet, maybe)?

I vaguely remember Jack in the Box fast food restaurants.

How about all of the old holiday cartoons they would show every year (on free TV!)  It seemed like there were cartoons for every holiday!

I do remember Playworld. I believe we had one where I lived in Massachusetss. It eventually became a K-Mart and either it turned into a Big-Y or a Pricerite grocery store. There are two shopping plazas side by side and I can't remember exactly which of the two it was.

Soft and Swirl chocolate pudding?  I am asking for help here I would like to know more about it the name, the manufacturer, the ingredients..."the recipe".  I loved it. It was a type of pudding I do not know if it called itself a pudding or not because it was 10 times as good as any chocolate pudding I've ever tasted.  It was not a mousse as it was so sweet not bitter like all mousses.  It may have tasted 10 times as good as any pudding but it cost 3 times as much I guess it was maybe $0.31 and regular pudding was more like 10 cents? So my mother would never buy it again no matter how much I begged! And so I guess it went out of production. Info would be appreciated I know my recall is not accurate.  Please send info through markbrittain4@hotmail.com

I liked Three Rivers, although I only went to Pirates games there, not to any Steelers games, which would have been a bigger deal to me.  Obviously, the Steelers sell out their games, whereas the Pirates have never really drawn well, at least in the past few years.   I would have loved to have gone to Forbes Field, but it was gone before I was born.  All those cookie cutter stadiums, Riverfront, Veterans, and Three Rivers, just didn't have a lot of appeal.  Especially compared to other stadiums I've been to like Camden Yards or Wrigley.  Although both the Steelers and Pirates fielded some great teams in the 70s at Three Rivers.  I'm beginning to wonder how long it will take for either of them to win another title.

I remember Mouse Trap. It took us so long to put it together that we never had time to play it.

Another thing that isn't around anymore is penny candy that is, in fact, a penny. I remember sometimes getting 5 for a penny (depending on what it was). Bazooka bubble gum was only a penny. It was great.

I remember Memco. My Mom used to do her grocery shoping there because it was cheaper than going to Giant. Memco was bought out by Bradley's in the early 80's. They went out of business a few years later because they didn't have the grocery section and their prices were too high. I remember Jack In The Box too. It was my favorite restaurant when I was little. I remember getting onion rings and filet fish there. This was back when I used to eat fish. Jack In The Box was bought out by Popyes on the east coast in 1980.

Things in football that are not around anymore:

Single bar facemasks-there were still quite a few quarterbacks and kickers wearing them into the seventies. There may still be a few kickers wearing them but that is about it.

Long sleeve, heavy cotton jerseys-they were beginning to be replaced by lightweight mesh in the 70s, but at least at the beginning of the decade most teams still wore the long sleeve heavy cotton ones. I have an authentic reproduction of one of these, Bart Starr's Packer #15 shirt. They must have been useful in Green Bay in December, but I'm not so sure about Miami or San Diego in September.

"Straight ahead" or "conventional style" field goal kickers-the "soccer style" kickers started taking over as early as the 60s, but through the 70s there were still some straight ahead kickers. Now I do not think there are any, in the NFL at least.

NFL players wearing number zero or double zero. I think Jim Otto of the Raiders may have been the last.

An NFL team(s) in Los Angeles. I wonder if La La Land will ever get a team again, or will it be set aside as the place that owners can threaten to move to if they do not get a new stadium or whatever?

The old conference affiliations with the major college bowl games. Actually these were still around until 1990-something. The Big Ten v. the Pacific 8/10 (after the Arizona teams joined) champs in the Rose Bowl, the SEC champ went to the Sugar Bowl, the Big Eight (now Big 12) champ went to the Orange Bowl, and the now-defunct Southwestern Conference champ went to the Cotton Bowl.

A Big Ten conference that actually consisted of ten schools.

Topps was the only major brand of football (or other sports) cards. They apparently did not have the right to show the team's helmet logos on the cards, because they were always airbrushed out.
