Subject: 2025: The year in film

Written By: batfan2005 on 11/29/24 at 9:35 am

Here is a lineup of the most anticipated movies on 2025:

Overall it looks like another year of sequels, remakes, reboots, and superhero films but some of them I want to see including Karate Kid: Legends, Jurassic World Rebirth, Superman, and Avatar: Fire and Ash.

Subject: Demi Moore leads Oscar race after Golden Globes win

Written By: Philip Eno on 01/06/25 at 5:14 am

Demi Moore has made a triumphant return to the Golden Globes, winning best actress for a role in a body horror which has revitalised her career.

The 62-year-old gave an impassioned speech as she collected her award, telling the audience she was "at a low point" before being cast in The Substance.

Pretty much half of the entries are going to be remakes, sequels or reboots?? What....

The only thing I'm very excited about might be Mickey 17 with Rob Pattinson. He plays amazingly well, I wouldn't have thought so 15 years ago, let me tell ya
I can't wait for the whole Snow White promo to be done I can't stand those remakes. Don't get me started on the Lilo & Stitch remake too, they are going to butcher my favourite childhood movie. And since I got kids you can bet they'll wanna watch them.  >:(
I'm bracing myself for the inevitable moment we'll go watch Minecraft. Maybe I'll let Hubby take care of that lol
Speaking of kids movies, Elio does not hype me at all. Disney have been on a dangerous slippery slope and I tend to not even watch their new movies. I think this one will do no exception since it's the same creator as Luca, Coco and Toy Story 4, which were all duds imo..
And another year of Wicked promo....  :\'( I want this to be over so bad.

She really did deserve all that praise. That movie was tailored for her and it's sad to say that it was now or never if she wanted an award for her lifeworks. Amazing Demi!  :D

Subject: Oscar nominations postponed because of LA fires

Written By: Philip Eno on 01/09/25 at 5:54 am

The announcement of this year's Oscar nominations has been delayed by two days because of the deadly wildfires raging in the Los Angeles area.

It had been scheduled for Friday 17 January, but the stars and films up for Academy Awards will now be revealed on 19 January.

The voting for the nearly 10,000 Academy members, which opened on 8 January, has also been extended by two days, until Tuesday 14 January.

Former Oscars host Billy Crystal is among the celebrities who have lost homes in the blaze, as well as Paris Hilton, James Woods and Miles Teller.

In October there is a film "Michael" about Michael Jackson. His role will be portrayed by Jaafar Jackson, Michael's nephew/Jermaine's son.

With that casting I would expect it to be a tribute show rather than a realistic story about both his accomplishments and peccadilloes.  ::)

I just saw Companion at a theater last night. It was very, very weird, but it was also very, very good.  8)

She could be her granddaughter.), LeVar Burton, Peter Weller & Nancy Allen (Robocop reunion), Gates McFadden, Doug Jones, Bobcat Goldthwait (looking appropriately like Freddy Krueger), Christian Serratos & Greg Nicotero, Barbara Crampton (celebrating 40 years of Re-Animator), and Ron Perlman.
