This is going to be a big event on Monday. The path of totality will be from San Antonio to Cleveland and Buffalo in the afternoon.

When I first heard about it about a year ago, I bought the glasses. I didn't want them to sell out before. Then a few weeks ago, I bought a filter for my camera.

It is only suppose to get 98.1% here. I was plannng on going north to the path of totality. But I don't drive so I need someone who can drive me. Plan A fell through. Plan B fell through as did Plan C, D and who knows what else. I thought that I would have to only see the 98.1% until yesterday. So I will be going north to the path of totality. I am super excited.  I am hoping the place I chose won't be too crowded.

There's expected to be half a million people coming to my city to view the eclipse on an elevated historic site called Fort Henry and it's gonna be a shit show because the closest bridge to get there will be closed due to maintenance and safety concerns.  I have to work, so it's not like I can go anyways, but with the traffic concerns, I wouldn't have gone anyway.  I still got glasses just in case

It will be about 80% in Georgia. The peak is coming up in about 15 minutes. Getting a bit darker outside.

Here (Chicagoland) the eclipse is 94%.  Of the friends we had over yesterday, one told us of a conversation with a friend en route to Carbondale IL (total there) - extreme traffic and astronomical hotel prices comprised her friend's report.  I digress.

I haven't been watching it outdoors here, but our condo takes a lot of light from the windows; during the eclipse peak (2-ish), the light became as dark as if there was an imminent thunderstorm.  Spooky!  :o

During lunch I've been enjoying extended eclipse coverage on TV.  Amazing!

It was barely visible in California. But a few of my Fb friends were able to capture what they could.

We only got a partial eclipse in Hawaii at sunrise. It was obscured by the mountains and the eastern horizon was cloudy anyway.

I was on the Big Island for the 11 July 1991 total solar eclipse.  That was completely overcast and rainy.  When totality came it looked like someone had poured black ink into the clouds.

I had much better luck for the 21 August 2017 total eclipse.  I went to Oregon for that one.  The skies were perfectly clear.  I was there for almost a week and the weather was hot and dry; I don't remember seeing a single cloud in the sky!

Here is a picture I took of  it from the roof of my office building using a Google Pixel 7 Pro.  Not a bad shot from a cellphone camera!  Kind of reminds me of the ring in that movie The Ring, or that guy's ass in the Scary Movie 3 spoof :D

Here in New York it arrived at around 3pm and that was an amazing eclipse.  :o

Yeah, that is a good one. Did you use the lens filter? I tried taking some pics directly even though they say you risk damaging the lens. I didn't look directly at it though.

I just took it like an ordinary every day snap

My pics are still in the camera. I don't know how well they came out. I was blindly taking them because I had a filter on the camera that didn't fit very well. I also had my glasses on so I couldn't really line things up. Then I couldn't really use the zoom because of the filter. I turned on the video about a minute before totality and just let it go and let it go. I still had the filter on because it was hard to put it on and off. I took same pics on my phone. When I get on my computer, I will check out all the pics and see if I have any decent shots.

Someone at my office discovered a trick to zoom to 10 on her iPhone camera and take it through the glasses. She had some good pics of the orange crescent sun.

Cause looking directly at it can cause damage to your eyes.
