Online do-it-yourself teeth realignment company Smile Direct Club has shut down operations. Anybody who was in the middle of the mail-order tooth realignment process is screwed. :o

I believe the SDC was about straightening teeth, not whitening them.

Customers of Smile Direct Club have told the BBC how they feel "left in the lurch", "outraged" and "gutted" after the remote dentistry firm shut down.

Not that I mean to blame the victim(s) (or maybe I do), but, honesty, one almost wants to say "they deserve what they get" to anyone who put any creedence whatsoever in a company like this. Are people really that dumb? Even a cursory glance at the Better Business Bureau website shows Smile Direct had over 1700 complaints even before this latest announcement, and nothing but bad reviews overall. Doesn't anybody do any research at all before happily sending money off to such a place? Not to mention being delusional enough to think they could really get their teeth fixed this way. No matter how far technology has come, some things still require a hands on approach.
