His death hits about as hard as the untimely demise of Dustin Diamond, who played the beloved character Screech in the TV series Saved by the Bell. :\'(

And for the same reason I started watching Friends again, just like how I watched SBTB right after Dustin Diamond's death. It really hits when you see the character and that actor is no longer in this world. Also the same feeling when watching the Black Panther after Chadwick Boseman's death.

The interesting thing about this phenomenon is that after a suitable period of time, one can watch shows, for example "I Love Lucy" or "The Golden Girls" and never once think of the fact that the entire cast, or main cast, are deceased, as are the writers, directors, etc. Likewise with music by deceased artists who made great music. It simply becomes a thing of it's own. This is the beauty of things passing into the realm of the classic, and artists doing timeless work.

Kind of like Three's Company that was discussed when Suzanne Somers passed away recently, now most of the other cast members have passed on.

Or Hogan’s Heroes, where all of the main characters are gone. Kenneth Washington is the only prisoner still living, but he was only brought in for the last year of the show, to replace Ivan Dixon, the original “black guy” cast member who had quit the cast.

Side note… the HH show ran longer than America was even involved in WW2.  ;D

M*A*S*H ran longer than the Korean War which it took place in. It also ran longer than the Vietnam War, which it was really meant to represent.

I've been watching Friends but not as much as I used to, Matthew Perry was quite funny.

John Ritter made Three's Company worth watching, he was the star of the show.

The poll choices are all quite meaningful; it’s hard to single out just one.

My first introduction to Matthew Perry was when he played Sandy, Carol's college-aged boyfriend on Growing Pains.  The episode where his character died was one of the most saddest moments in TV.    Perry's death hits just as hard as when John Ritter passed away.  TV legends that I grew up watching and now watching the things they were in just won't ever be the same :(

Learning Perry died in real life was almost like watching that moment when Carol learns of Sandy's death :\'(

How about that time in 1983 on Sesame Street when Mr.Hooper had died and the cast had to explain it to him but he didn't understand where he went and how he died.  :\'(

You are referring to Big Bird not understanding Mr. Hooper's death. That was a sad episode.

His legacy will likely be a combination of his work on "Friends" as Chandler Bing, his efforts to raise awareness about addiction, and his relationships with his co-stars.

Yes it was a sad episode, Big Bird the character was a boy with a mind of one who never seemed to understand the world sometimes.
