Subject: "Reaction" videos on Youtube

Written By: Voiceofthe70s on 06/23/23 at 9:46 pm

Has anybody noticed an absolute proliferation of these inexplicable "reaction" videos on Youtube?  Where a person just sits and listens to a song, or a film clip, supposedly for the first time, while we watch their reactions. Sometimes they will offer commentary as well. There are millions of these now. Every time I am searching for something by a musical artist I like, or even an old TV clip or something, these "reaction" videos  show up. I don't recall seeing anything like this until recently. What is the point of these things?

I have to admit to watching a couple of these for specific tunes.  I'm not sure about the point but they can sometimes be entertaining.  The folks doing them probably get some money if enough people watch (or subscribe perhaps).

They’ve been around for years. First one I recall is from way back in ‘05 when the “2 Guys, 1 Horse” YouTube was making the rounds.  :-X

You give them something to react to and they will give you their opinion on if they had liked or disliked it.
