The mid 2020s officially begin May 1, 2023. This is less than a year away...

Hopefully it will be better than the Early 2020's.

Where do you arrive at this figure?

Where do you arrive at this figure?
A decade divided into 3 equal parts comes to 3.3 years, so the "mid" part of this decade starts around the spring of 2023 and the late part starts in the autumn of 2026.

That's right, he was divvying a 10-year span (120 months) into equal spans of 40 months (3 years plus 4 months) each, labeling them as "early", "mid" and "late".

I surely hope so, it's been such a very rough few years.

The years have not been rough, it has been life that has been rough.

I like to separate decades like this, it's more efficient
Early - 0, 1, 2
Mid - 3, 4, 5, 6
Late - 7, 8, 9
therefore to me we're only about 4 months away!! The idea of mid 2020's doesn't even seem real to me yet we're almost there

Has the OP taken into account for the extra days of the leap years?

Where do you arrive at this figure?
It's basic math...

That ain't right though because then the middle part is longer than the first part and last part. All three parts should be exactly equal.

Right, it's basic elementary math.

why do they have to be? Isn't the culture of the middle portion of a decade usually the longest?

I don’t go for the “mid decade’. For me, it’s:
Early - 0, 1, 2, 3, 4
Late - 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
That way it all evens out. So we’re roughly 2 years and 4.5 months away from the late 2020s.

I do not go for any mid or third, quarter etc of the year, I just let the years pass by.

Yeah that's how I usually tell them apart too, especially the early years being 0-4.

Who's talking about culture? We are dividing the decade into equal thirds, early, mid, and late. It's not hard to understand. It's basic elementary math...

Yes I think this is how most people think of decades, either that or mid would be 5 with the later part sometime after that
