Subject: 2020-2021 felt like a non stop rolling transition
Written By: NightmareFarm on 08/05/22 at 11:06 pm
There's various shift points. March 2020 being the obvious one because COVID. November 2020 being another because Biden being elected and the PS5/Xbox Series launch. Jan 2021 being another because Capital riots and Biden inauguration. June 2021 being one in the UK when lockdowns were lifted. The second half of 2021 was mostly chill but then we had masks come back in Nov/December 2021 and then January 2022 the government announced all lockdowns would stop permanently.
It's really weird, it's like the early 20s is an era which contains eras.

March 2020 was a shift point without a doubt. November was as well. I wouldn't consider each lifting or reinstatement of lockdowns/mask mandates as shift points however. Even January 6, it was more of a continuation of the post-election drama. February 2022 was also a shift point with Russia commencing the invasion of Ukraine, and people concerned about WW3. The past 2 and a half years have been a rolling transition for sure.

January 2021 is a bigger shift point than November imo. Biden actually got inaugurated then whilst he was elected in November. It wasn't just that, it was also when people started getting Vaccines.
Feb/March 2022 was a very big shift if you live in russia or ukraine.

That's the thing, it seems like most people don't care about Ukraine except for Ukrainians. After about a week of "thoughts and prayers" and "I stand with Ukraine" it seems like it's been all but forgotten/ignored. I felt like it made COVID seem like old news.
2021 was pretty transitional overall, with more music becoming synth based and less trap, and with Biden and vaccines, plus some of aftermath from the pandemic like the supply chain crisis.

I feel like the early 2020's is gonna be similar to the early 2000's, as in it doesn't really exist. There hasn't been a strong solid culture since Covid hit, just constant transition

It's a manual? I don't see many of those around anymore, at least in the States.

Yes, all my cars have been manuals but I'm thinking my next one will have to be automatic since you can't get hybrids with manuals
