Subject: Prediction: A new genre will explode within the next year

For the past 3-ish years, the dominant genre has been retro pop—a mix of 70s disco, 80s synthpop, and more recently, 90s house. We haven't seen a full-on new genre emerge since trap took over in the mid 2010s. It's hard to tell what new fresh genre could emerge in the current music landscape, since familiar/retro sounds seem to be favored.

I'm thinking back to what happened in 1991/92 with Nirvana and how that changed the music landscape dramatically. I feel like a shift near that magnitude is going to happen relatively soon.

I dont even know anymore. The past few years have just been unoriginal rehashes of retro music so i'm losing hope this will happen.
