Subject: The 2020 aesthetic

Written By: GameXcaper on 07/06/20 at 3:13 am

I've figured out what the 2020s aesthetic is. I've known it for a while and made a post about this before, I'll just have to find it again. I'm sure some of you have also figured it out so here it is.

It's the storm trooper theme or as I like to call it the 'reverse oreo'. Basically a glossy or matte white as the main color with jet black as a secondary color, along with blue very often as a third color, although the third color can be any bright color such as red, or green, or even be rainbow colored or color changing like RGB LEDs. It's very common on electronics and has a very sleek futuristic look to it.

Here are some good examples of what I'm talking about:

PS5 and dual sense controller
SSC tautara (original white concept)
BMW i8
The Portal gun from the Portal video game series
Eve from the movie Wall-E
Xbox one controller with the Xbox one S
Alienware m15 r2 (white and black)
Storm trooper helmet/outfit
White and black PC cases and builds
Even my new dryer and microwave has this look to it

(I'll post and link pictures later)

I have to say, I love the way this aesthetic looks. It's been around for a long time, but really become more common in the mid to late 2010s.

Feel free to add more examples to this, because I'm sure there are many more.

I was hoping for a transparent aesthetic this decade :( kinda like the early 2000’s.

Ehh.. I’d say it’s too early to tell. The aesthetic doesn’t seem any different from the late 2010s so far. Unless you count wearing masks as an aesthetic  ;D

We're mostly still in the late 2010s culture, so like what goodbants said, it's too early to tell.

I guess you're right, this is more of a late 2010s aesthetic at the moment. I doubt we'll see any true 2020s aesthetic until atleast 2022 or 2023.
