Why do you say that? I'm thinking of finally getting my first (actually, second) car since public transport won't be safe for a few years.

Because if Hertz goes under, there are going to be a lot of fleet cars that'll have to be sold. Although I would recommend against buying a used rental car because some people who rent them like to abuse them.
What kind of car are you thinking about getting?

The UK has Hertz Cars too, so far no mentioned of this kind here. but I feel that the way travel is being done in the UK with lockdown, taxis and private cars are doing well.

When I was in college I worked a summer job washing rental cars and ferrying customers to and from the Picksburgh Airport. One day the boss sent me to a car dealer to pick up a brand new car for the fleet.
Being the diligent employee that I was, I told the boss that I would return to the agency running the back roads so that I could keep the speed slow and “break in” the car right. He then went on a tirade, basically accusing me of just wanting to goof off, and he said “LyricBoy I want you to bring that car right back here with no delays!!!” >:(
I beat the hell out of that car. ;D
