Subject: Late 2019/2020 - Best Year in Music in a While...
Written By: Slim95 on 04/13/20 at 8:10 pm
2020 is the best year we had for music in a while. Pop culture is in a transitional state right now. I added late 2019 because in 2020 the radio is mainly repeating songs from late 2019 because of the corona virus. But music has been improving a lot in 2020. I know trap is still around but it's more hidden in the background now thanks to these new hits. Retro disco funk is back and so is indie-pop and some alt-rock. Here are the best songs so far.

I know most of these came out in late 2019 but they got popular in 2020 and are continuing to be played.

2019 had Lizzo. The decade really saved the best for last. :o

The current charts are pretty decent. There are some songs on the chart that I enjoy.
- The Box
- Don't Start Now
- Adore You
- Say So
- everything i wanted
- Circles (can't believe it's still high on the charts after all of this)
- Blinding Lights
- In Your Eyes
And that "Level of Concern" song by TOP is fantastic. :D

It’s certainly better than late 2018/early 2019.

So far 2020 is tragically bland and unimpressive. I've been following the music nerds communities on the internet very carefully since late 2016, and there's very little releases of this year to be excited about compared to years prior. And the charts don't fare much better in my opinion.
Hopefully this year will pick itself up in the next few months, but I doubt it looking how most artists are literally stuck at home.

I can actually tolerate the mainstream radio station these days. Didn't feel that since June 2017..

^ I haven't payed attention to a lot of music in the billboards heavily since 2017, so maybe I should give 2020 a shot. IDK honestly. I'll have to check those out later.

That's from 2019 I believe.
Too early for the given time slot, but still a great song.

I haven't enjoyed listening to mainstream music in a long while. It's just a lot better now. I really like this retro pop trend. Feel like we're in the 1980s again. Here's another new song I just heard, another example of the retro funky vibe.

You should listen to the album. I'm almost done listening to it, it's really good! But also long (17 songs), hence "almost" done with it ;D

That is a good album. Between that and Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia are the best albums of the year so far.

I just finished the Weeknd's album and that's the next album on my list.
Have you listened to any other 2020 albums so far? The only other one I've listened to was Selena Gomez. It was aight. I heard the Green Day album was a massive flop. ::)
