The early 10s feels like it was still setting up fundamental 10s culture. I mean it wasn't until 2013 when smartphones finally overtook dumb phones in sales...
Late 10s had a very strong 10s feeling. Even the last year felt overwhelmingly 10s despite setting up various things for the 20s.

The early '10s are the most definitive part of the decade.

The early '10s are the most definitive part of the decade.
Social media and Smartphones are two of the biggest defining things of the 10s.
Like I said smartphones still weren't even ubiquitous and outselling dumb phones. Social media was still mainly confied to Facebook rather than there being a variety of popular social media like Instagram, Snapchat vine etc. Late 10s has a solid 10s foundation on the other hand where both of those technologies are fully integrated into society and everything else represents the 10s better.
