I was a teen in those years and I really thought EDM was going to last forever.
Millennials were so blind out with EDM festivals and YOLO/Carpe Diem way of life that they were unable to see the disastrous reality

EDM use to be one of my main genres of music when I first got into the music industry as an Indie Artist. But I think nobody cares for it anymore. Now I am in the Dance/Electronic, Pop, and Alternative Rock genres.

I never really saw the point of it. It goes nowhere. It reaches a certain fever pitch of sorts and just stays there.

You guys keep saying EDM is dead yet this song got released literally a few days ago... If this isn't EDM then I don't know what is. I will never understand why so many people on this website think EDM ever went away.

EDM died in the mainstream back in 2017/18 but like every genre in existence there's still a small group of people out there who like it and continue to make it. I LOVED EDM when it was new, it was like listening to the future! I still love the way a good beat drop fills me with energy (Let's Go by Calvin Harris is a great example)

It did not die in the mainstream in 2018.. There were many popular EDM hits released in 2020. It actually died in 2021.

Good gosh I miss it. The swedish house mafia party years. The sound of an era.
In my opinion it was a more vibrant optimistic time, despite the economic situation.
but all things must pass, and I find it darkly ironic how the 2010's seemed to be the years everyone socialised and came together.
Now everyone has to socially distance and stay apart.
From one extreme to the other.
