Subject: What standalone song do you pick to best represent each era of the 2010s?

As in accurately represent the style of music at the time.

Early 10s(2010 - Mid 2013):

It's hard to narrow it down to just one for each era, but here are my pics:

Early - https://youtu.be/JRfuAukYTKg (David Guetta w/Sia - Titanium)

Mid - https://youtu.be/il9nqWw9W3Y (Demi Lovato - Cool for the Summer)

Late - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ONRf7h3Mdk (Travis Scott w/Drake - SICKO MODE)

I find it hard to represent one for mid 10s. That era of music was very vague. Early 10s and Late 10s had very clearly defined musical styles however.

Early 2010s (2010-2012)
https://youtu.be/KQ6zr6kCPj8
*Uhhh... No need for explanation here. Everyday I'm shufflin'.

Mid 2010s (2013-2016)

*I don't know how to explain it exactly, but once you listen you'll hear it. "Dark Horse" by Katy Perry comes close.

Late 2010s (2017-2019)
https://youtu.be/r7qovpFAGrQ
*Trap music and meme culture came together to create this banger. Pretty self explanatory. "Gucci Gang" by Lil Pump comes close.

I think of the mid 10's as the era of generic pop/teen pop. Aside from Demi Lovato it was the Ariana Grande in her early years, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, and Taylor. My runner up was going to be "Shake it Off". I didn't know that Fifth Harmony was that popular.

Exactly, generic pop. It lacked an identity where music is concerned. And those aforementioned artists did music in the late 00s/early 10s.

Where I live fifth harmony was very popular around 2015/2016. Thank god they aren't anymore lol.

That's because it overlapped. There was trap in the mid '10s (Trap Queen from 2015 a classic example), but there was also electro-pop (such as cool for the summer by Demi Lavato).

This song is the epitome for bad music in the mid 2010s.  8-P

The mid 2010s ended in 2015 culturally at the latest. So you can put songs from 2016 and 2013 since numerically they are still part of it but in my humble opinion the cultural mid 2010s were only really present in 2014 (heck even 2014 was kind of iffy with trap becoming big in the late part, the 2010s was quite evenly split in half). Even in 2015 you started to see some late '10s trends come in when Trump announced he was running for president that summer. And in 2013, it did not feel mid '10s at all it felt like its own unique year as it was extremely transitional from the early '10s era. It is almost as if there was no mid 2010s because the mid 2010s was just a blend between the early 2010s and late 2010s (with its music and pop culture leaning towards late '10s and its politics leaning towards early '10s). I just felt the need to make this note so people can understand why I choose the songs that I choose.

I think you're speaking about the trumpets/saxophone? The mid '10s was full of songs with brass instruments like "Talk Dirty" by Jason Derulo and his other song "Trumpets". As well as "Worth It" by Fifth Harmony as you posted and some more.

True. Although it leaned more towards the late 10s musically.

Seems accurate. That pitbull song is the most early 10s thing ever lol.

I'd say the mid 10s ended in 2017 when trump became president, the switch launched, trap/mumble rap and spanish pop became a lot more popular and deep fried memes became popular.
