Subject: 2013 - 2015 - Explosive Years for Changes in Tech
Written By: Slim95 on 04/08/21 at 8:30 pm
The years 2013 - 2015 were huge for tech changes. This is when smartwatches debuted, tablets became commonplace, virtual reality headsets became available for purchase at a low price to the general public, new cars had touchscreen systems built in, form-factors and specs/features slightly changed in smartphones, Windows 10 debuted, and much more. This is when tech changed the most in the 2010s.

2010 alone is a bigger shift in tech.
- Windows 7 becomes commonplace
- Smartphones become commonplace
- Social Media blows up in popularity
- PS move and Xbox Kinect releases
- HD 720p becomes commonplace on youtube
- Music videos all become HD rather than the cloudy SD look of previous years
- Ipad gets released

But those things were around before 2010 just not everyone had it. The things I listed were not around. The first real smartwatch got released in 2014. That's why 2013 - 2015 is more changeful. It actually got new tech that wasn't around before. Smartphones were still around in the late 2010s even though not everyone had one. Everyone had an option to get one.

The question is, what kind of life-changing technology are we going to have in the next 5-10 years? I'm excited about it, but at the same time I'm worried that it could be intrusive and invasive and be used to control us.

A technology becoming commonplace is a lot more relevant to culture than it being released or built but no one having it. If that was the case then AI robots like Sophia would define the 2010s. Smartphones may have been available but virtually no one had one in the late 2000s so it isn't relevant to the culture of that time.
The smartwatch was a fad that completely tanked. I've only seen like 2 people in total with one and in 2013-2015 I was in a school full of rich kids who all had up to date gadgets. Hardly culturally relevant.

I see many people wearing one today. It's great for fitness especially or to view notifications quickly.

Don't worry those won't be popular for at least another 5 years.
