Subject: 90s and 2010s, more similar then different
Written By: CarCar on 10/04/20 at 1:45 am
Am I the only one who thinks the 90s and 2010s aren’t as distant as some people on here make it out to be. Like the main music genres of the 90s such Hip Hop are still dominant in today’s culture, fashion trends from the 90s are still wearable aside from the fact that they were over 20-11 years ago when the decade started on 2010. Many artists of the 90s had successful careers in the 2010s. In fact I actually think the most similar decades to the 2010s are the 2000s, 2020s, 90s and even to a farther extent the 80s, considering the fact that they’re so close to the decade. While the total atmosphere and vibe of each decade was different, technologically and aesthetically they’re actually pretty close or not as distant.
The most different or total opposite decades to the 2010s have to be the decades from 1960-1910 over the fact they’re 50-100 years ago when the decade started. In the 1910s it was all about Ragtime music and Opera while in the 1960s it was all about Soul, Old Folk and Pop Rock. What I’m getting at is 20 years doesn’t make a huge difference to see a very significant change in society unlike 50 years that’s very gradual

Do you think the 1969 internet was a lot slower than today's internet? I bet it was. Only the military and the upper echelons of government had it back then. I wonder what advanced thing they've got now that we as the public know nothing about?

There was classical music composed by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Edward Elgar, Gustav Mahler, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Erik Satie, Igor Stravinksy, and Carl Nielsen.

I checked out this chart out put out that top most popular music generes in the 1910s and Classical music was on top along with Marching band music. It’s amazing how that’s a true stark contrast to our modern day 2010s/20s. Today everything that dominates is Hip Hop, Techno, Dance and Alternative Rock music.

It probably was, correct me if I’m mistaken but isn’t the 60s the birth of the Internet ?

I view the era of the late 80s/early 90s as when things started to become the way they are today.

Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" was shot in black and white due to a tighten budget for the film.

Not until 1996. I don't see the similarities between the 1990s and the 2010s. Trying to though lol!
