Subject: 2017-2018 vs. 2018-2019: Which school year screams late 2010's more?
Written By: Rainbowz on 07/14/20 at 11:53 am
During the 2017-2018 school year, Fortnite was the biggest game, the Parkland shooting happened and completely changed a lot of schools, March For Our Lives was a big thing.
During the 2018-2019 school year, TikTok becomes popular, and Airpods get more popular.
If TikTok ends up getting banned, then I think 2018-2019 will screams late 2010's a lot more. If TikTok doesn't get banned, and ends up being popular in 2021, then I think 2017-2018 will be the quintessential late 2010's.

They were both late 2010s school years, but 2017 - 2018 was more of course because it was the middle of the era.

2017-2018 was simply more eventful than 2018-2019 was, that's why I chose it.

I'm still going for 2017-2018 being peak late 2010s. You had mumble and trap rap, battle royale games, school shootings and lockdown drills, Yanny/Laurel, and lots of other things.

I went with 2017-2018. I wasn’t in school anymore however I can see how 2017-2018 was peak late 2010’s from a pop cultural standpoint.

It’s hard to say. I think we’ll have to get further into the 2020s to really know.

If we talk about the Late Core 2010s, then 2017-18 takes the spotlight, though if we strictly talk about pure Late 2010s, then 2018-19 takes the spot 'light' (More like a dark year)
